| Jack won't keep down food????? So this morning I woke up to jack having pooped in his crate and vomited as well. The poo was regular so I cleaned everything up after taking him outside to relieve himself. Afterwards, he got a bath. About a half hour after his bath, he threw up all his breakfast. Now he wasn't acting weird at all, his regular spunky & playful self. And he ate the rest of the day and wanted food, but he threw up most of it every time. I checked his gums, they're healthy moist and pink. His nose is wet. And his second stool of the day was regular. I gave him some chicken and rice to help his belly for dinner. I put him to bed at 930 & since I know he's been having tummy issues all day I figured I'd take him out at 130 just incase. Well I found his dinner buried under the towel in his crate and a wet fatty stool (very little). Again, he seems completely fine and his gums and nose are fine. But now I'm worried. I keep giving him a little food just so he has something in him. I know how fast things can change if these little guys don't eat. My brother thinks he may have a blockage but gosh.he hasn't gotten into anything. I have no idea what could be upsetting his tummy. Any ideas? I left a VM with my vet (he leaves his cell for emergencies) an hope to hear from him in the am. Til then I think I'm going to up all night making sure nothing changes

| I was wondering how old Jack is and how much does he weigh. There is a sticky here on how to tell when it is time to take your pup to the vet. It is important to try to keep fluids in your baby, dehydration is very serious. My personal rule is throwing up 3 or more time in a 12hr period is a trip to the emergency clinic. If your dog is really young or small he can become very ill quickly. It being Memorial Day,not many vets are going to be open, unless yours is willing to meet you at his office. |

| How is Jack this morning? Glad that he is drinking. Is his food a new food? At his age and weigh,he should be getting 3 or 4 meals a day or free feeding. I ask about the food because each type of meats that are in foods is a different. So if he is used to getting chicken and he is switched to say venison it may not agree with him. Did the vet call back? Hoping that he kept his dinner down. |

| Jack kept down all the food I gave him when I took him out around 130. I checked him around 7am and he was fine and I took him in the yard to relieve himself. No poo, just pee. So I gave him some breakfast and he went right for it. Afterwards, he played for awhile like he usually does. In between I'd push him his water bowl and he'd drink. I just want to make sure he has water in him. lol The vet did call and said it sounds like he ate something that gave him a belly ache. He said if he keeps his food down the rest of the day he should be alright and he told me to make sure he rests and drinks lots of water. So no rough housing. He also said the second anything changes back, to call him and to be on my way to his office so he can get in an X-ray and bloodwork. Luckily he's only about 5 minutes away so I was happy to hear that he would see him. So far so good. He's taking his regular nap at the moment. I'll be sure to feed him when he wakes up. And he's eating Fromm's Puppy Gold. He's been on it for two weeks and hasn't had an issue.

| Yep, sometimes they just get upset tummies. That's great you can call your vet especially on a holiday! Happy to hear that it looks like it was just a temporary thing.

| Thanks you guys...even though it was a false alarm, I'm glad there's a place like this for support! Jack's Dr called again to check up on him and was happy to know he's back to keeping down all his food. I told him I made his portions smaller and decided to feed him five times a day as opposed to three times and he him gorging on it all at once. He was an especially happy boy today! http://distilleryimage3.ak.instagram...0a1f9a34_7.jpg

| Aww so cute! Turbo was throwing up couple of weeks ago too. His poopies were nice & firm, but I think he was eating too fast. Sometimes they just throw up, stomach upset or eating too fast...just make sure that it's not associated w/diarrhea, as that can be a sign of blockage & is an emergency. You have an awesome vet, calling/checking up on clients on Holiday!

They would have never done what our new vet is doing. He is a pleasant, very involved older gentleman. You can tell where his heart is. We're very lucky. (Anyone in the area who needs a great vet, let me know! lol)

| So glad that you have such a wonderful vet. Our vet for years was an older gentleman as well and on one occassion he offered to make a house call at 11:30 at night because our big dog was very ill,my husband was out of town and I had 6 small children sleeping. Glad that Jack is doing better. Multiple, small meals may be just what he needs. Looking forward to watching him grow. |
