I would definitely go with the cardiologist vs the primary vet. You said the right heart was more enlarged than the left heart? A lot of times, right heart failure is related to a congenital pulmonary valve problem or lung problem since the right heart returns blood to the lungs to be reoxygenated, whereas the left heart pumps oxygenated blood through the body. If there is a narrowing of the pulmonary valve or if the lungs are noncompliant, it causes the right heart to work harder, and like any muscle that is exercized, it gets bigger. Either way, it sounds like you are on top of his symptoms and are catching it at an early stage, so Momo should be able to be treated with medication and his symptoms controlled. A cardiologist will know to investigate further and be able to treat the underlying cause, if found, where a regular vet might just treat the heart failure and not look for a primary cause. Good luck and prayers for Momo's health and recovery! (Sorry-background is cardiac nurse...I get a little out of control with the education..

Talked to our vet yesterday & he will refer us to a very good cardiologist, Dr.Lesser of AVCC. I won't be able to take Momo in til next week, hopefully they will accommodate him. I am trying not to worry too much until we find out what's wrong, but I feel sick to my stomach.

Thank you everyone for your kind words & prayers for Momo. He is so special, has personality plus, loves to give kisses & is so happy all the time, also makes me laugh, he's so funny. Here he is w/his fav ball, it was taken couple of months ago b4 his puppy cut. Momo fav ball.jpg
