| Phoebe's 1st post surgery check up Phoebe went for her first post cataract surgery check up today. The Dr said her eye looks good, and he cut down her meds some. She now has to have 1 eye drop 4x daily, 1 eye drop 2x daily, and 1/4 prednisone tablet every other day. I still need a chart to keep it straight lol. She has to go back in a week to have her sticthes removed. I'm hoping he will cut down the meds again then. Poor baby still has to wear her hard cone for another week. I asked when I can give her a full bath, and he said not for another week. I can't wait to bathe her, but I have to admit I'm going to be really worried about using shampoo on her head/eye area. I ordered a tearless foam facial cleaner to use, but I know I'll still be worried.

| Where was the stitches? Great news and I'm so happy she's doing so well. When any of my girls or fosters went for surgery, I just took a baby wash cloth, wet it and put just a dab of shampoo on it, rubbed it good then washed around their face first, rinse, then the bottom, rinse, then the body, rinse and the feet. You don't have to get them soapy or too wet to do this.

| Wonderful news! I am very happy for Phoebe an you. When Max had corneal ulcers, it really helped his eyes to finally heal correctly by holding off on bathing his head completely for a month. I did a lot of combing and used wet gauze pads to keep his head reasonably clean.

| Kristen, thanks for the advice about not giving her a full bath for a month, I do plan to follow it. The vet said I can bathe her body now, but i'm waiting till the cone comes off next week. At that time I plan to bathe her body, but just use the foam on her head & beard (avoiding her eyes) and rinse it off with a wash cloth. Even though the vet said it would be OK to do the full bath, I would rather be safe than sorry.
