Hi Lori, I noticed that you are from Illinois. Are you within driving distance of the University of Illinois in Champaign? I know they are excellent and IF there is a chance your baby can be saved they can do it. You've been taking such good care of her and whatever decision you make I'm sure you will do it out of love for your little pup. Watching her suffer must be heartbreaking. I'm hoping and praying she starts making some improvement soon.

I am so sorry you are faced with this terrible situation, and having to make such a call so early in this baby's life. I am one that will do whatever is necessary to keep a baby alive, if it is determined there is a chance for improvment. But I can not watch a baby suffer for no reason, when it is just delaying the inevitable. If I were in YOUR shoes, I would take that baby girl to a specialist, preferably at a vet school, and they will be able to tell you what her prognosis is for recovery. Then I would make my decision based on what they tell me. If they can tell me that baby will recover, then I would make my decision to continue to help her achieve that goal.

This baby has been on my mind everyday since I read (could not read past the hitting the curb) about this terrible event. My heart breaks for both you and your little one. I pray that you will have a happy ending.

Hi, I'm in Champaign/Urbana, IL, and I agree that it is an excellent place to take Khloe if she can survive the trip (3 hours by car). However, I think that Lori is in the Marion, IL area and might be closer to St. Louis, MO. Mt. Vernon IL, Carbondale IL, and Paducah KY are even closer. Anyone know of any top notch vet hospitals in those towns?

I read your post in tears, Lori, I am so very sorry for you and your precious baby. If you lived closer I would gladly help you nurse her back to health. I know how devastating this must be, and trying to do it by yourself has to be physically and emotionally draining. Is there anyone there that can help you?

I know it has to break your heart to see your sweet little one in such pain, and yet I hope you can give her time before making that final decision ... if she's fighting for her life, even a little bit, I know you want to give her that chance.

Oh my...I was hoping for better news, {sob}, but in a way I am happy she is home with you. The amount of weight she has lost, well, I know it's a lot of work, but I cannot help but think just being with you has to make her feel better. A baby so young being in a hospital for any reason is just so sad...the little ones really need the closeness to their family. She has shown she wants to be with you and is trying as hard as she can...it just takes time, I think. I am still sending prayers, healing energy, and best thoughts ever that she improves. {{{Hugs}}}
