Thanks again for all your prayers!!! Layla is going to be okay! The tumor seems to just be on the surface of her eye. It is growing though, and if we leave it, it will probably grow deeper into her eye and cause pain and loss of vision. So, we've booked her surgery for April 16th. It's apparently very simple, and shouldn't take too long. They gave us a worst-case scenario quote, which would be an hour in surgery if they found major problems with a better look at the tumor, but it's very unlikely. She'll have to wear a cone for 3 weeks, but her eye will be just fine! Right now she's in medicine, having another urinalysis done for her UTI. They did a culture and sensitivity a week ago and don't have results yet, but hopefully they can figure something out because we're out of antibiotics! She's going to get through it all, because she always does. I am so glad we have such great vets caring for her. |
Praise the Lord indeed! I'll be keeping you and Layla in my prayers cause I know G_d is listening!!! |
I am glad to hear it's just on the surface. We'll be sending lots of prayers, good vibes, best wishes, you name it! |
Praying her UTI gets better. I'm so happy to hear the tumor is just on the surface. Yay!! Wondering why she has to wear a cone for eye surgery? I thought cones were just to keep them from licking their wounds..? Anyway, I'll be praying again on the 16th - am sure all will go smoothly :) |

I am very happy for Layla and you. Keeping her in my prayers for a successful and easy surgery. :) |
Just seeing this and bless her sweet little heart! I am so thankful to read the great update and that she and her eye will be fine. PTL! |
jSo happy for Layla!!! Keeping her in my prayers that surgery and recovery goes OK. Darn UTI!!! I'll add that to my prayers too. |
Well, her UTI is improving! They did have the results, just had to look for them. They should have called us when they got them but didn't. Anyway, the antibiotic she was on to begin with was the right one, and she has 3 more weeks left and it should be all cleared up! I just talked to my friend in opthalmology and asked if she should skip her antibiotic the morning of her surgery, becasue she can't eat after 10 pm the night before. She told me to just bring one along and she'll make sure to feed it to Layla after her surgery, so that will work out. She just adores Layla so I know she'll be well taken care of! |

We are keeping our fingers and paws crossed for Layla. Our Oliver just went through juvenile cataract surgery and he's also in a lamp shade for 2 weeks. He's just like Layla he's gone through liver problems and they also found crystals in his urine but the vet said he could do the surgery even with the crystals. He's very uncomfortable right now. He has to have 4 different eye drops a day plus clava mox and predisone but his vision is getting better every day. Everytime the other drops wear off and he's feeling better it's time for another dose. But he's a trooper and I'm sure Layla is also Our love to her. |

We had our friend from opthalmology and her husband over to our place on Saturday evening, and conversation moved to Layla and she made me feel a lot better again! She can explain things better to me than DH can :) She said the procedure is basically that they'll just cut a flap of the surface back and then shave off the tumor. Easy as that. She doesn't think there will be any other issues. I know Layla is going to hate the cone. She and one of our other dogs, Kash, are still learning to live together in peace  They don't FIGHT, but Layla will bark and nip at him when he's rude - he walks close enough to rub past her or push her to the side, or he'll grab a toy from right in front of her, or whatever. Sometimes he will step right on her back legs and her butt when she's laying down, and I don't know if he realizes she can't feel it because it kind of seems like he's just trying to be a jerk lol... but don't worry, he's extremely light so he's not hurting anything! But anyways, Layla is always a little on edge when he's in the same room, unless they are sleeping. I know she's going to hate not being able to look around easily and know exactly where everyone is all the time. She's never had to wear a cone before! |
1 Attachment(s) We will be thinking and praying for Layla on the 16th. She's going to be just fine. I know how rough it is. I was a nervous wreck for weeks, especially when the vet outlined all the things that could go wrong. Now when you see Olliver his eye is becoming more open every day. He hates his cone. He's been living on treats and ice cream for a week now because he has to have food to take his pills so I've been giving him whatever he wants. Once again I'll be thinking of Layla please keep us posted. |
