Luvee and I are home for 2 nights! 1 Attachment(s) Luvee and I are home for 2 nights. The Dr. wanted her away from other dogs and germs. Her last blood test this morning revealed her to be pancytopenic, her white blood count went down even further. Her Neutrophil count has trended downward the last 3 tests. So....the Dr. sent us home with some Doxycycline to cover what she suspects could be a tick/vector-borne disease. (My parents live in Dimmit County and on our last visit Luvee could've easily picked up a tick or 2 in spite of the flea/tick prevention she has been on) So the Dr. wanted to proceed with the antibiotic. I will drive Luvee back to Aggieland this Sunday to be there bright and early for her subsequent blood test. If it does not reflect an upward trend in her white blood count and Neutrophils then the next step that afternoon is a bone marrow test. She will have to be sedated for that. Then we have a new ball game. I've attached her instruction sheet. Thank you again for your continued thoughts and prayers. We are thinking positive!!:xfingers: |

My goodness Wow a tick infection, that is just something you never would think of. it is amazing what the right people can find. I wish everyone had vets in their corner like this, and had the gumption to make them keep looking like you did. Wonderful job !! |
Tick info Luvee and I are glad to be home, even if it's only for 48 hrs. She seems like she is doing better. Taking her medicine well. My main concern is she has not pooped since Tuesday and is still not jumping. The Dr.s were not concerned with her not pooping for some reason. All I know is it would sure bother me if I couldn't poop for over 4 days! Here is some general tick information but good to know. One of our vets referred one of our rescues one day to a cardiologist because of an irregular heartrate. The pup was taken that day and the cardiologist was certain it was either tick related or chagas. When the test results came in, sure enough it was Chagas! |
What a read! So glad that you may have found an answer!! What a great mama Luvee has!! Will keep her in my prayers! |
