| open fontanel I bought a puppy and took her to the vet. He said she has an open fontanel. He said it may never close but that it should be fine. What do you think? Has anyone ever had this and it turn out okay. I love this little girl! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | How big is it? It's fairly normal in toy breeds, but if it's bigger than the size of a pencil eraser at 12 weeks you need to take special precautions. Of course, be careful that nothing is dropped on her head. I think you’d want to always do that, but I guess even a light weight object could kill her. You might even want to limit her playing with other dogs, if after 6 months it's still open, please make sure you neuter her. Many of our members have had dogs with this condition, and they are fine, best of luck.

| Thank you Nancy. The vet said it was small and no indication of hydrocephalus. I will be having her neutered. I will be sure to take extra caution anyways and monitor it. |
