| ![]() Hi everyone, over the past week or two iv noticed Buddy dragging his bum on the ground and pulling himself along with his legs....is this a sign of worms? Buddy has been given his worm dose for this month but iv looked this up and apparantly this is a sign of worms. He is due in the vets next week to get his bloods retested after his liver shunt operation so i will ask my vet then but do any of you guys have any insight into this? ![]()

| ![]() Hi. What do you mean worm dose for the month? Dogs don't need to be dewormed every month. Unless you're speaking of Heartworm preventatives, which is different. I would check anal glands. Often that's a sign they need to be emptied. Have a vet do it, or show you how.

| ![]() Here in Ireland Our vet recommended that dogs get a worm dose every month until 6 months of age and then every three months until they are one year old. Buddy is just 9 months so got one recently. Thanks for advice will be at vets next Thursday so hopefully will get it sorted then

That's so strange. Here we deworm puppies and then they go on a monthly preventative for heartworms and for intestinal parasites. To answer your question, dragging the bum on the floor could be the glands, worms, or just irritation from a bowel movement. My dogs will do this from time to time. A warm bath can help if it is irritated or dry or even if the glands are a little irritated. But definitely have your vet examine him. Good luck
