| For some reason the grocery stores around here don't seem to carry much Greek yogurt. I was considering buying a jar of the probiotics advertised on line but if I can find the yogurt that would be much more economical. Will have to check a few different stores and see what a find. Should I give them 1 tsp. at each meal?

| Speedy is in much better spirits today but still after she goes out to potty she will come in all excited and still drop drops of blood as she prances through the house. I called the vet tonight and she said to give the meds time to work and see what the results of the culture come back with. You would never know anything is wrong if you didn't see the blood. Poor gal. Come on Clavomax, do your job. Vet suggested putting her on SO food but she could have absolutely NOTHING other than that food (no treats of any kind.) I asked her about probiotics and she said they sell it there and give it to those that get chronic UTI's and Speedy doesn't get them back to back. I think I'm going to try probiotics first before making her do without her special treats. The food is pricey but that isn't the issue. I just don't want to deprive her of her special treats that she so deserves. Am I doing the right or wrong thing?

| Not sure if you said or not but has your vet done an x-ray to check for stones or crystals ? as this will cause UTI's. I hope she's better soon. |

| I totally agree with you about trying the probiotics first. Probiotics help in so many ways its not just for dogs with chronic UTI's. our Boxer also had yeast in her ears and allergies and it helped that too. I do 1 tsp a day and mix it in for 1 meal Georgie hasn't had tummy issues since we started giving it to him.

| Yogurt won't hurt a dog, but really doesn't have enough probiotics in it to make much of a difference. I get probiotics here: Nature's Farmacy - Store - Product Details= Very reasonably priced and economical to use.

| Probiotics are not a replacement for food. I personally would put her on the Urinary SO if my vet suggested it....matter of fact, I have Gabby on that since she has recurrent UTIs.

| I am only speaking from my experience with both Georgie and our Boxer Coco. The probiotics in the greek yogurt we gave them helped. There was a noticeable difference in Coco itching and when I would clean her ears. I do agree that probiotics in the pill form are great! I take them myself and it's helped me as well. I hope Speedy is doing better today

| One of my dogs eats SO. It is a great food and I would not hesitate to use it. ...but if a dog has only had two UTIs with no underlying problems, a prescription food may not be needed. I'd ask why they want to use it so soon. My other dog has had several UTis. they may be seondary to a mild liver issue or just that she is a girl. Bladder diets were never considered. Obviously if it is going to be a bloody, miserable mess everytime there would be a good reason. One type of stone shows up only on ultrasound. And $1000 for a UTI - yikes!
