Taycie is headed to surgery
 

Just wanted to reach out to everyone and get a prayer chain going.
My sweet angel is headed for Liver Shunt Surgery. She is admitted to a specialty hospital and has been in the ICU since Sunday.

After many trips to the ER vet and another days stay at our regular vet, she continued to get worse. On Sunday I met with Critical Care Specialist Ravi Seshadri, DVM, DABVP, DACVECC and he immediately had her admitted.

We are in the process of getting her stable for surgery. She continues to have profuse diarrhea and refuses to eat. This needs to be stable for surgery. She is on a strong coarse of antibiotics along with a small dose of steriods to calm her GI tract down. When I spoke with Dr. Seshadri this morning he was hoping not to use steriods but we need to calm her GI system down so we can move forward with surgery.

When we get to surgery he will also do a biopsy of the liver and her intestines so we are able to get the right kind of medication for her.

Needless to say I have been devastated through all this but I have hope. Now I really need prayers, so my sweet angel can get over this hump so she can head to surgery. This month has been so rough being in and out of the vet so often I just want my sweet baby home where she belongs.

When I went to visit her today she looks good. She is alert and she was excited to see me. Please, Please, keep us in your thoughts and prayers, so she can feel better!

Emily, I am praying for your sweet baby girl that she will stabilize quickly, that the surgery will be successful, and that she will recover quickly.

Sending prayers for Taycie. I haven't been on YT too much in the past week or so and missed that Taycie was so sick. Prayers that they can find what the issue is and get the right meds to make that sweet baby feel better.

Thank you all! I couldn't sleep so I called the clinic to get an update. He said her vitals are normal and she has been really sweet and let's them do everything they need to do to her. She still is not eating on her own but hasn't had any diaherra tonight!!

After this situation finally came to a head I have had so many emotions, anger towards my vet office who I feel was not 100% honest with me. Needless to say we are never going back. My heart is breaking for my sweet girl and I'm trying to focus on her getting better and forget the run around I was getting. She has been through so much and I just want her home.

I can feel all your prayers and so is Taycie. Thanks so much everyone, I truly need a support group through this.

Prayers for you and Sweet Taycie. I know the helpless feeling that you have felt when the Vet didn't have answers and the feelings that you have now. We are here for you.

I have to say my insurance company (Trupanion) has been wonderful through all of this. I submitted a pre-approval claim and marked it as urgent. Because this happened on Sunday I had to wait until Monday for answers. I called the office at 6:30am and by 9:30am she was fully approved! Best decision I ever made was getting her insured as a puppy.

I have had so many small miracles happen I know many people are thinking of us and she will come home soon.

Many, many prayers going out to Taycie for her surgery and that you can finally get an answer to all her problems.

Just seeing this and devastated to hear about Taycie going to surgery! That poor little girl has just been "through it" and so have you, trying your best to see that she gets only the best. It does sound like you have gotten her to the best place/situation possible for her current situation and that these guys are completely on top of all that needs to be done. Now, the best thing you can do is know you have done your part, stay as strong as possible and the specialists will take it from here. And so will we. YT'ers will be praying & believing your Taycie will come through this fine.
