Well....I don't know...I think she has played me on this one. When I gave her her food at 3PM she turned her nose up....I took the bowl and put some RC LF in it and she gobbled it ALL up. I spoke with the specialist...could be the meds are working and could be she is just picky. Nothing lost as she needed a follow up on her labs and ultrasound anyway...but good grief. What a mess. The specialist thinks that she may have a food aversion because of her illness...so that on days that she feels a bit punky she thinks the food did it. So she does not want to eat it again.. Actually makes sense as while she has never been real food motivated, she never did this! I am just thankful that she is ok. |
So glad she is doing better. |
Sending continued prayers that Olivia will feel better today. |
Your pups are turning you in knots!! Little stinkers! Hopefully her appetite will pick up and she will be back to her sweet self. Glad to hear that the ultrasounds were good. |
So glad she is ok! |

Maybe they heard someone say not to focus on my diagnosis and stay positive. Well, they are taking my mind off of it....but is this positive? :p |
I am very happy to hear Olivia is okay and that she ate the RC LF. :) |

Oh no! Olivia, don't make your mommy crazy. Eat up! Keeping her in my prayers. |
Olivia I feel your concern and frustration with the eating issue. Many times I have torn my hair out when my boy will not eat. I, as others, have found that a very small sprinkle of Parmesan cheese will sometimes do the trick for a capricious appetite. I have found that Cerenia is an excellent anorexia drug and works better than Reglan. Have you ever used that? So sorry that you are going through this with Olivia and hope she feels more hungry soon. Try and take care of yourself as well, you need TLC too. Prayers for you and your babies. |
Checking in to see how Olivia's been feeling these past few days, praying that's she's eating and feeling better. ;) |
She is still acting weird about food. I spoke with the specialist yesterday...she may have a or some gall stones...we are awaiting the final report on that. They really are not concerned because her gall bladder looks much better than it did previously and her labs are good. I am just going to have to keep switching her food I guess. I have to be sure it is on her approved list of foods...and just go with whatever it is she is going through. |
Glad to hear the vets are not concerned and that her blood work is good. |

One day she does not want kibble...next day she does. I have NEVER had a pup like her. She was not like this until recently. |

I am so worried about Olivia. I took her to the vet on Thursday for her yearly exam and to get ready for her dental this coming week. It was time to re evaluate her PLN so we took her B/P and did a UPC on her. Her B/P was 190 and my vet called the specialist .. his advice was to repeat her B/P this coming week when she had her dental. He did not feel her meds needed adjustment just yet. The lab for some weird reason did not get her UPC done yesterday and since my vet was going to be closed I had them ask the lab to fax her UPC results to me when they were complete. The result is 3.3 which is very high. :( I just called and spoke with the tech for the specialist. She is going to speak with him and get back to me about whether she needs to come in or not...or if there is something I can do at home which I highly doubt since I cannot monitor her B/P. I am just sick over this. :( |
Olivia I am so sorry that Olivia's tests are not looking so good right now and understand how concerned you are about her. Praying for little Olivia and hoping she does not have anything that requires more hospital visits. Why do these things seem to happen on holidays when getting service and results is usually harder?? |
Linda, I am very sorry to hear this. Praying for Olivia. |
I am just beyond stressed right now. :( This really is not a good sign. |
Oh Linda I am so sorry. I will be praying for sweet Olivia |
He had a couple of emergencies .. I suppose he is going to call me. If he needed to see her, I think the tech would have called back by now. I just feel sick to my stomach though because this is a killer condition. :( They had told me that most only live about a year after diagnosis. :( :( Trying to think positive..but it is not working well for me. |
Oh no Linda, I am so sorry to read that Olivia is having problems. Prayers will certainly be going out for her. I hope the Vet get's back with you soon. |
Well, his suggestion is to increase the Enalapril and follow up this week for a B/P check...the tech had called me. So...I asked her when to do another UPC and also IF it is ok to do a dental (not that I intend to with her kidneys not filtering correctly right now). She did not eat this morning and I did not put much into that since she can be finicky... now I am worried about that. Will see how she does this afternoon. If she does not eat I am going to run her over to the EC and get her B/P checked. |

Oh no, I hope you get a good diagnosis. Poor Olivia. Sending ((good vibes)) your way. |
Thanks, everyone! Well, the scoop is that he is not overly concerned so I suppose I just need to relax. Olivia just ate all of her food and let Pippi hear it when she got too close to her bowl. :D He said to go ahead this week with her dental and to get her B/P reading a few times over an extended period of time (he said preferably over an hour) .. my vet can do that when she is there for the dental on Thursday .. actually that had already been discussed. The UPC is to be repeated in one month. I did not speak with him....but I am thinking that maybe the fact that her blood work is all ok is a good sign; and I am hopeful that she is still in early stage disease. This is not a condition that will go away...I just so hope she can live a longer life. All of the information I see...and even the specialist told me that the average life expectancy is one year. :( |
