Poor Wylie! It'll all be worth it shortly. Snuggles & hugs. I think he needs a kilt to keep his rear warm lol. |
Aww, prayers for Wylie to have a speedy recovery. |
awwww poor baby. im glad he came through well though and is on the mend. that just looks so painful. amazing all our babies can go through. they are tough cookies when they have to be. |
Awww, he looks so pitiful:unlove: Sending him quick recovery prayers and smoochies!!!! |
Wishing Wylie a speedy recovery!:getwell: |
Aw! Hope he's feeling better soon. At least with both legs done, he won't be able to favor one over the other, and will learn he can use them quicker. It may be a bit harder on you for the first few days though, but worth not having to go throught it all again... I read where it can take up to 5 days for a BM, but do ask your vet. I usually do a bland diet after a procedure for a few days to get things moving through easier, like chicken and rice and some chicken baby food... easy on the digestive system till things return to normal. But many do well without it, lol. All depends on the pup... |

I too thought he'd have to be super still...but our surgeon said no, make sure you get him up each hour just to move a little while supporting him. He says being ambulatory makes for a better recovery. Of course, I bet once we get these wraps off we'll have to be more restrictive bc I think Wy will want to move more than he should, at that point. Quote:
Thanks all for your warm wishes for Wylie! |
1 Attachment(s) Day 2 - lookin' better all ready! |
Bless his little heart! Hang in there Wylie! You will be up and moving around in no time, and just think sweetie! You are done with it! No return to OR to have the other leg done. No more risk of another anesthesia! NO MORE PAIN from the undone leg, with the additional burdon placed on that undone leg! You will be up and playing in no time! You do not have to worry about another surgery in 6 weeks! Hang in there Ann....you may have to help him stand for a couple of days, but your precious boy is on the road to recovery, without the concerns of yet ANOTHER surgery on the other side, possible additional complications on the undone knee caused by the extra stress placed on that knee, another bout of post op pain, etc, etc, etc, in his future! That is all behind you now, and in a week or two, this will be nothing but a memory! |
Glad to hear Wylie's surgery went well and he is doing better. The first couple days are the hardest. Columbo is still taking it easy. He still favors his most recent leg, although it is slowly getting better. I still haven't fixed his haircut. Hopefully, this week. |
Omy that update pic is so adorable and hilarious! He has a look on his face like really? I have to exercise a bit with these on? Hugs Wylie! |

Absolutely precious updated pic, FIRST post op day!!!! UP ON LEGS, MOMMA!!!!! By the end of the week, you are going to have to figure out a way to LIMIt exercise to avoid overuse of his legs!!! |
That updated picture is precious. Now he will just get stronger and stronger. Hugs from my gang |
I am glad I am coming into this thread late and got to see both pictures, makes me feel so much better seeing him sit upright. He looks sad and oh so cute at the same time. The poor little guy must be so confused as to What the ..... just happend to me. I always worry what my dogs must be thinking when I am doing stuff to them for their own good. Like others have said it will all be worth it in the end. Prayers and hugs to Wylie from Lola and I. |
Speedy recovery Wylie! |
Hope that Wylie is doing well!!! Has he resumed using the potty as normal? Hope so!!! Heal quickly little Wylie!!! |
How in the world did I miss this thread? I didn't know Wylie was having LP surgery and the picture of him broke my heart. Poor baby. I hope his recovery is quick and easy. I know this has to be so hard on you too. Get well wishes to Wylie from the girls and I and lots of hugs to you! |
Wishing Wylie a speedy and complete recovery, and sending him some kissies from my furgirls! |

To those wondering "how did I miss thread, I didn't know about his LP surgery" -- please don't feel bad -- I honestly didn't really say anything ahead of time bc I just didn't want to trouble anyone about it...I know, that's weird . He's doing great today...he won't really take little steps; not from pain but just bc he's too weirded out by it. Thanks again for all the sweetness! |

Just wanted to ask if Wylie is use to going outside or on pee pads? Some dogs will hold it forever because they don't want to go in the house. My two have no problem with that, but I've read about it. :p |

Ann, you are very sweet not to want to worry all of us. We would have worried for sure. Wylie, please let us know when we can all do the celebratory poopy dance. :D Hoping soon. |
We wish you a speedy recovery, Wylie! You look too cute in your little bandages, hopefully you'll be out and running at full speed in no time (as long as your doc says its okay)! |
Sorry I missed this thread but glad to see him better on day 2. I breaks my heart to see him in pain. Hugs to you both and may he quickly forget ever having the surgery and have the rest of his life enjoying perfect knees. |
I was just going to say 'how did I miss that Wylie was having surgery?' The first picture just shattered my heart, glad I kept reading and saw the second pic...he looks so much better, even though he does look like he is saying 'What the .....is this s&*t?' Poor baby...its over and done with, praying for a speedy recovery. Bless his heart.... |
I missed this yesterday. Poor Wylie glad I got to see today's picture he looks much better. Get better soon little guy and behave yourself Sending prayers |
Hope all goes well ! |
We have been thinking about Wylie. I hope he has a speedy recovery and is back to himself as soon as possible! :D |

He finally peed again last night - it was like the Great Lakes on that pee pad! He must've been so relieved. This morning was so funny...I propped him on his pillow while I was fixing their breakfast, and I held his bowl for him to eat. After, I could tell he wanted to go over to Marcel and Pfeiffer's bowls like he usually would for post-eating inspection (for crumbs)...so I put him on the floor...and he just peg-legs right on over there! I've been trying to get him to take a few steps for days (per Vet instructions)...and he wouldn't do it, but it seemed to just click for him this morning. Then, he did his little walk over to the pee pad, peed - then proceeded to walk down the hall. I followed him in there after a bit, and found a poo poo on the pad in our bedroom - YAY! Then I found him in his "office" (his day spot, in our den/library)...so he had walked into there as well, to assume his central-command-day-position. So, he's doing just great...the doc will be thrilled that he's taking a few steps :). Thanks again for all the well wishes ! |
