Prissy not feeling well... So Prissy got up this morning and went to potty as normal. She peed and pooped which was normal then I brought her back in to her kennel (it was 330am which is when my husband goes to work) She started crying a little then I heard her start throwing up. I was holding her and could hear her tummy churning. I gave her pepto and it came right back within a couple of minutes. She threw up 2 more times by 530 and I could still hear her tummy churning. I called the vet at 730 when they opened and told them I was bringing her in. The vet gave her a shot for nausea and gave me something to give to her to coat her stomach and ease the irritation and another liquid with electrolytes (similar to pedialyte) and then a can of bland Iams intestinal food. I got her home and gave her the meds which she kept down and she was begging for something to eat, so I gave her a little of the canned food from the vet..She has played around a bit, but you can tell she doesnt feel great. No more vomiting though and no diarreah...Say a prayer that she continues to do well this afternoon...

I am curious, you said you gave your baby pepto...can you just give them human medicines and they are ok?? I'm just wondering cause I've read quite a few posts where they give something that sounds like it over the counter, but I'm not sure if thats what you mean or is it something the vet gives you and is named the same thing...I always thought you weren't supposed to give dogs human medicine...thanks for the info.....just wondering what I need for my medicine chest if thats the case. I think i'm going to get some liquid childrens' benedryl though after reading about that bee sting case on here....

I actually got the info and dosage from here...I found it on a post about upset tummys...My vet has told me that I can give imodium for diarreah...1/4 teaspoon...the dosage of pepto was the same on the post I saw here...My vet said that would have been fine if she would have kept it down... Prissy seems much better this evening..She has held down food since lunch..I just cant figure out what gave her an upset tummy...She does not get any people food...She never had any loose stool today, it was just the vomiting...She is bouncing around playing this evening..

She is doing much better today! Her vet called this morning to check on her and he said we would get over this and then watch her..She may have to go on a different kind of food or maybe take meds daily since her stomach seems to be so sensitive...Anything out of her norm throws her systems out of balance...She hated the prescript. canned food, so I hope if she does have to go on something different, there are other choices..
