| Gosh I am recovering from surgery myself and missed the part about the lump first appearing 6 months ago. I found the lump on Jada's back when it was the size of a tiny pea on a weekend day. Called my vet on Monday morning and he said it would be fine to wait until Wed. So total of 3 days before I took her in and I was a basket case. I hope it is just a fatty tumor or cyst and they don't have to do surgery.

| 2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | I appreciate the kind words and the prayers from all of you !! I forget to mention that yes I did take her to the vet when I first found it. We already had an appointment that same week for annual vaccinations so I brought it to the vets attention at that time. She said to keep an eye on it and call if I notice any change. I feel so bad, I screwed up, and now my baby is paying the price. I have no experience with these sorts of things and I certainly did not expect a growth the size a a quarter to grow to the size of an egg is such a short amount of time. I will fill you all in on our visit to the vet as soon as I know somehting.

| 2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Well we are back from the doc and with a sci of relief I can say it is somewhat good news. It's not cancer thank goodness. Diagnosis is that it is a Lymphoma fatty tissue tumor. Due to the side of it and the fact that it grew so rapidly and will continue to grow there is no question that I am definitely going to have it removed. Doc says that it wont grow back but there is definitely that chance of other growing in different places. Im so relieved that this was not cancer and that it can be removed . Thank you all for your support and well wishes.... it has helped calm my nerves tremendously !

| I had a lipoma that was the size of an orange in my upper thigh. The oncologist told me that because it was so deep within my muscle, they suspected it was cancer. However, I opted to having the entire mass removed without a preceding biopsy (my doctor applauded that choice) along with extra muscle tissue. I healed without any pain and the mass never grew back, suggesting it was not a true lipoma (as they are known to grow back in humans, anyway). I also never noticed any difference in strength, caused from missing muscle tissue. I do pray that your dog has an exceptional recovery and that the mass will not grow back. Are you sure that it is not a lipoma rather than a lymphoma? It is my understanding (and perhaps I am wrong) that the difference is that a lymphoma is cancerous and the lipoma is the one more attributed to being a fatty tumor (unless designated lipocarcinoma or liposarcoma). |
