Nikki is not doing well
 

Please keep Nikki in your prayers. He has had trouble walking and very unsteady on his feet. He is barely eating and just failing. I took him to the vet today and he is running a fever of 104 and his Bun and Creatine were higher than they were 3 weeks ago. Some of his other labs were abnormal too. His stool had white cells in it too. His back legs are not reflexing back after the vet puts them behind him. More so on the left which is the side he falls over on. She gave him a shot of Baytril to get a quick blast of antibiotics in him and pills for the rest of the week, something for his stomach and Metacam for his severe arthritis in his spine. He is such a sweet heart never cries or show any sign of pain but I know he isn't doing well. The vet said It's a Hail Mary and all we can do is see if we can get him turned around to where he was a week ago. I will never keep him alive if he is suffering but right now we feel he is pretty comfortable most of the time. I just can't go through another loss right now so Please keep him in your prayers. On top of everything else my sister who I see every day and do all kinds of things with just sold her house and is moving to Tennessee. So if you could say an extra prayer for me I'd appreciate it as I am having a very difficult time. Thanks

You have been an angel to Nikki and have been there for him whenever he has needed you. Nikki has known such love because of both you and Carol. My heart goes out to you, and I wish you the blessings that you have brought to Nikki. My prayers are with both of you.

I feel so bad for Nikki and for you. As others have said, you have been his angel and he has been so loved and cared for by you, even before he was yours. I am praying that he makes a quick recovery and is feeling better again and you have more time with him.

I am so sad for you with your grieving for Ken, worries of Nikki and now Liz leaving you. It just breaks my heart to see you in the pits of despair. One day, my dear friend, something good is going to happen...and when that day comes, we will both do cartwheels! Love you!

Patti, I'm so sorry you are having to go thru more stress. I'm praying Nikki will pull thru, and I am especially praying for you as you face everything all on your own.

How is Nikki, any change this morning? I thought of you both all night, remembering your stories and pictures of Nikki and his mom, Carol. This little man has had quite the journey and I'm very proud to "know" both of you.

Thanks everyone. Nikki is sleeping all the time but seems more relaxed. He does not feel like he has a fever anymore. He is only eating once a day and treats but I am going to give him more of the regular dog food and some baby food instead of the KD. He is still very wobbly on his feet but does seem to be able to stand a little better for a couple of minutes. I will do everything possible to keep him comfortable. I really don't think he is suffering. Just so sad to see him fail. He is a very special boy to me!

Am just seeing this and so sorry Nikki is so ill. I will keep Nikki and you in my prayers. I know your heart is hurting even though he seems a bit better.

Patti, I will say extra prayers for Nikki. You are the most loving and caring mom to your babies, and I know you have his best interests first and foremost in his care and treatments. I pray that the meds get him back to the same level medically that he was last week. He is such a special little man.

I am so sorry. I know how it is to see them sick and be soooo frail and you feel so helpless. God bless you for loving and caring and giving this baby all that he needs. I think they know when we are doing all we can for them. When we lost Tina about a month ago, to see her little head fall over and not be able to hold it up broke my heart. THey know when we are doing our absolute best for them. Little Nikki knows that love and care. Thank goodness he has a loving and caring mommy.
