Bojo needs well wishes I was searching the internet because my boy, Bojo, is at the vet hospital and I was looking for more info on his condition and I found this site. I thought perhaps joining and being among other Yorkie (all dogs really) lovers is probably the place I should be. So this thread with be a hello and what's happening with Bojo thread. I have two adorable Yorkies, Rosy and Bojo (Mr. Bojangles) They are both 2 years old and a joy. Rosy is laying here next to me as I write because that is what she does, gives endless cuddling. I am sure Bojo is on her mind as well. Yesterday we took Bojo the vet to be neutered. Dropped him off at 8:30 am, got teared up because he is my baby boy. Pick up time was 5pm but I arrived a half hour early because, well because I needed to see him and know he was fine. (I am sure those of you who have had to leave your baby know this feeling). He was groggy but happy to see me. I was given the standard instruction for neuters and we went on our way back home. Rosy was overjoyed to see Bojo back and they licked and Bojo, although tired, cleaned Rosy's face and ears (they take good care of one another). He seemed to be doing ok. I brought a little food and water to him ( the Dr. said not much the first night) which he ate and drank, I took him out for potty and he went, although he did yelp at lifting his leg. On this, I thought he is quite the talker (a lot as well as sings with a guitar) so maybe he just says it doesn't feel good louder than most. I make a special bed for him because I didn't think it wise to keep Bojo with Rosy the first few days of healing and its sleep time for us all. I wake twice to check on him. He is sleeping both times. This morning before we wake up and we go to take the dogs out. Bojo had gone under the bed and did not want to come out. We get him out and his sack is no longer black like the night before but very red and very swollen and bleeding. Not gushing or steady bleeding but enough for us to take notice and start to panic. I call work and take the day off, my bf and I assess the situation while my daughter calls the vet to let them know we are coming in. There is no asking for an appointment at this time, our only thought is to get Bojo in and seen, period. The Dr. sees him immediately and agrees he is bleeding more than he should and his sack is filled with blood. He is not sure at this point why or where as I had checked the sack before we left and stitches were intact. Dr. said he had to stay and to call at 4. I call at 1 and the Dr said he is thinks it could be a clotting problem. He is going to go back in. At 4 I call again and got vague answers and to call back at 4, I admit I got a little huffy, said I used to be a tech and wanted to know something so they put on the phone and he did talk to me. The Dr. did go back in, everything inside is as it should be but because he now has a low red blood cell count and the clotting they are going to keep him and may keep him until Friday. Bojo is awake and alert (very encouraging) and they are giving him meds and vitamin K. Tomorrow morning my bf will go visit and afternoon will be my turn. In introducing my babies I am also asking that anyone who may read this please send good well wishes out to Bojo, he needs all the positive vibes he can get right now. Tomorrow I will find out more. Tonight Rosy looks a little sad and lonely as we all do in the family and Bojo is first and foremost in our minds and hearts. Thank you |
Oh my, I'm so sorry your sweet Bojo is having this problem. Did he have pre-op blood work done? If so, did it show he may have a problem with his blood clotting? I will say prayers for your Bojo for a speedy recovery. Welcome Yorkie Talk. |
Oh no! I'm sorry you and Bojo are going through this. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery. Keep us updated please. Welcome to YT! |
Welcom to YT! Prayers and hugs going to your sweet Bojo! |
Yes, everything was done and he was fine and healthy before surgery. I am hearing it is very rare for this type of thing to happen but it does occur. I will see tomorrow morning how he is doing. I want him home, I am having such a hard time coping with the fact that he is not here in his home with people who love him. Last night he was alert just not wanting to move around a lot. I chalked it up to every animal is different after surgery and respond differently. Plus he liked water being brought to him instead of him getting up to get it. It's going to be a long night. Thank you for prayers. |
Yes, please do come back and let us know how Bojo is doing. We all care here. |
Yes of course I will :) Actually finding this site tonight has helped. I am reading threads and seeing all your beautiful babies and it helps to make the time go a little faster which brings me closer to tomorrow and hopefully good answers. This site and Rosy here by my side ( I know she is missing Bojo too) is very good therapy for me tonight. |
Aww thank you and of course I will. Actually this site has helped a lot. Rosy and I are going through the threads and reading and seeing other beautiful babies. It passes the time and tomorrow is closer. |
I hope Bojo is feeling better. This must be so hard for you. Sending good thoughts to you, Bojo and Rosy. |

Things can go wrong so unexpectedly....I am glad you discovered the issue and got that poor little soul into the vet....hopefully, he will be feeling a lot better in the morning and you will have him home with you and the rest of his family!! Sending out prayers for your little fella.... |
Welcome. I am so sorry that your baby is not well. I will keep your family in my prayers. This is a wonderful forum with alot of caring people. I hope that you will get a good nites sleep, you will need to be your best so you can care for your baby. |
Lots of well wishes, thoughts and prayers to you and Bojo! |
Just checking in to see how Bojo is today. Hope all is well. |
Bojo made it through the night. Bf went there to visit this morning and spent time with Bojo. Unfortunately he is not very good with finding and retaining medical information. What I could piece together was that Bojo looks a little better than yesterday. He does not like Bojo being in there at all so it is hard to say. He did say he talked with the Dr. and he wants Bojo to stay until Friday and maybe the week end. That in itself tells me it is pretty serious. His red blood count is still low and he is still bleeding but not as much and his sack looks less swollen, they do not know why he is bleeding. They are giving him meds to clot, he is wearing an e-collar. I called today to ask if I can see him after work and will go there then, I am writing a list of questions to ask so I will, hopefully, know more this evening. Rosy is unusually subdued, I am sure she is missing Bojo. They grew up together. I live in Rochester/Oakland Township :) Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes, I will let Bojo know I found a site that has a lot of Yorkie families sending good wishes his way. I will continue to update as I find out more news. |
Welcome to you and Boho and Rosy! I am so sorry that Bojo isn't feeling well and hope he's back to his normal self very soon. It's good that you got him back to the vet so he can get better:love: |

Checking in on Bojo to see how he is this evening. Prayers still continue for your little guy. |
3 Attachment(s) I was able to spend some quality time with Bojo tonight. Dr still does not know what is causing it but the Vitamin K injections seem to be working. Perhaps when more tests are complete we will know more, but he did say that there is a chance we will never know. He did go back in and all was tied and he re-tied. When he was sitting on my a speck of blood got on me but that was it. He was able to stand and walk a little and ate his treats heartily. I am hoping to be able to take him home Friday but it could be Monday. The Dr. is hopeful and told me to get some sleep. I feel he is in good hands, everyone there seems to know him and he is getting attention. I know he wanted to go out the door with me as I wanted him to leave with me as well but I know he still needs those Vitamin K injections. He is VERY black and blue but the swelling appears to be a lot better. His sac is black now instead of huge and red. I am just going to keep on thinking he will be home soon enough and we will be back to our routines. Man is he is dire need of a bath and brush! He won't be able to have a bath for a couple of weeks but a brush he will want. I took some pics of him and his owwy. It does look back and the stitching is different than the first time around. I hope he will over come this terrible thing in his liafe and get back to being himself. They say he is very quiet in his cage, that is not Bojo, he is a talker, he talked to me while I was there, sharing. All the people there know him and he got along fine with the Dr. Dr. told me to get some sleep tonight and I think I will try. Rosy sniffed me like crazy and intently when I got home, she remains more docile and quiet too now, I am sure she misses him too. I've uploaded the pics. The one is pretty graphic an d those stitches were inside stitches the first time around, perhaps this time they were taking no chances. |
Sending prayers for Bojo. It sounds like and looks like he is getting better. I'm so sorry this happened. I know it is hard to get sleep when you are so worried. |

yes, please try and get some sleep. I pray he will be able to come home soon. He looks so very, very sweet. |
As a former vet tech myself, working for private and Denver Humane Society and a rescue volunteer for Max fund and a former breeder/trainer this is the first I have ever seen with this kind of bruising and swelling, and the swelling here is 3x less than what it was yesterday! The whole sac was red yesterday and I could swear the blood was oozing out of his pours, if that is even possible. I am used to neuters being routine. In reading more on it I find it can indeed happen but very rare. I thought about just asking to take him home and bring him in daily for checks but there is Rosy here and it is easier for me to keep my emotions in check with others then my own. I may go that route on Friday depending on how he is and what his tests show and the vet says. |
Keeping Bojo in my prayer's for a fast recovery, Thinking of you all.:animal-pa |
