Healing prayers being said your baby and you |
Hope he's doing better today! Poor little guy. He's so cute and his coat is beautiful!! |
Checking in to see how BoJo's doing today. Wishing him a speedy recovery. ;) |
Checking in on Bojo this evening. I pray that this sweet boy is doing better today. prayers still continue for him. |
First let me say thank you to all the comments and concerns. I appreciate the caring of this community. I did not get to see Bojo today as it is the vets day off. He could have visitors in the morning but the night tech is not allowed to let people in and by the time I got off work it was too late. BUT my bf did visit this morning before he went to work. I was all happy to hear about his time with Bojo, Bojo was walking and happy to see him. Happy that is until he said he took him out to go potty and when he picked him up there was a little urine/blood on his hand. I of course started to ask all questions he couldn't answer, he just wasn't sure if it was bloody urine or a little blood that was on him or dried blood that got wet. Perhaps I am panicking too much but tomorrow I am going to expect better answers. I have been patient enough (and I am not very patient when it comes to the well being of my kids or dogs lol) I understand they do not know what exactly is wrong but the only way I get some answers is if I happen to fall on the correct question. I am not at all convinced (and this has been nagging me) that Bojo shouldn't just come home and we can take him in for daily checks and injections of Vitamin K. I am torn, he could be here where he is loved on, where we know when he has to go potty and not have to go in a cage if they are busy. Ug, I guess my frustration is glowing tonight. OK done with my rant. For now lol. This started out to be a neuter, I just don't get it. |
I just replied in another post just fine but when I try and reply in here it says a mod has to approve it. I am not sure why????? |
I'm so glad he is doing better. Are you going to ask the vet tomorrow if you can bring him home or does he need to spend the weekend? |
I hope my earlier post shows up. Long story short, I am getting frustrated. I want him home where he can be taken out regularly. Bf went to visit him today and took him out to potty, when he picked him up there was some blood on his hand but he didnt know if it was from urine or maybe some dried blood getting wet. I just am feeling he may be better home even if I have to make daily trips there. He will be surrounded by those he loves and loves him. I need the Dr. to give me answers and not just the ones I happen to correctly ask. Thank you all for well wishes and your caring, it is much appreciated, This was supposed to be a simple neuter, he had two now and still not home. |
Keeping Bojo in my thoughts and prayers!!! |
Thank you. I just want him home :( |
I'm just seeing this now and want to send good wishes for Bojo's speedy recover. I am cringing over seeing the photo, and am so sorry for all you are going thru. I sure hope tomorrow will bring good news and that you'll get your boy home. |
OMG that photo of his poor little belly area:cry: Honestly, at this point, I'd be getting a second opinion. I'm not a vet or a vet tech or anything like that, but I have NEVER EVER seen a little boy go through something like this after his neuter:( And I don't understand why the vet feels that he needs to be hospitalized ($$$$$??) when he's just getting one injection daily:confused: Maybe you can do another post on the general forum, asking for a vet recommendation in your area? I don't know, but if this were my little boy, that's what I'd be doing. Sending more prayers and love to your baby boy:love: |
I hope Bojo is better today so he can come home. Sending prayers for your sweet pup. |
I am just seeing this post now. Welcome to YT although it is so sad, that it is under such circumstances. I really truly hope, that Bojo does heal from his surgery; how-ever at this point I'd be asking for a referral to a specialist. I definitely want to know why he is not clotting. That information could literally be a life saver in the future. I would definitely want to know what diagnostics the vet has done, in order to determine the nature of the problem. And I would push for that info, as well as a referral to a good internal medicine specialist. I hope Bojo is doing better today |
I think that I would be looking for a different vet at this point. Even if it is to take him to the Emergency Vet. This just doesnt sound right and you should be getting minute detail as to what is going on with your baby and shouldnt really have to ask. My vet would be boring me to tears with details. |
I have to agree with some other posters...I would be looking for a new vet or a referral to a specialist. For me how could the vet not have any answers?? He's a VET!! How many years of schooling? Somewhere in his studies this had to come up! Sorry I would be beyond frustrated at this point and taking my baby elsewhere....JMO Hope he heals up enough for you to at least bring him home. |
Just seeing this....poor little fella. I'm so sorry for you both. Sending prayers for this sweet baby. |
Checking in on sweet Bojo this evening. I pray he doing better. prayers continue for Bojo and your family. |
Bojo is home with us. He is not out of the woods yet but his red blood count is up and he is clotting much better. I have Meds and suppose to call vet all weekend and bring him in on Monday. The bruising is still there but has lightened. For tonight we just want to keep him calm, not a easy task. Thank you for all the kind words and prayers and please keep them up until he is fully recovered. His Dr. Charged me 58.00. I was flabbergasted. He sincerely wants Bojo well again. Bojo is a bleeder and we are getting a grip on it, I'm sure from the many kind thoughts and prayers he is receiving from us to his not yet known new friends he has here. I will try to get a pic on here tomorrow and keep you up to date. Again a heart felt thank you. |
Continue with best wishes and prays for Bojo! So glad he is home with his family. |
I am so HAPPY to read that Bojo is home with his family. Prayers will continue for healing. |
I'm glad he is home with you. I know Bojo and his family are both equally happy that he is there. He may do better at home than he did at the hospital. Keeping him calm will be difficult, but it is absolutely necessary. Keeping your precious Bojo in my prayers for a healing weekend. |

If he is still oozing, he has some kind of clotting problem...this needs to be addressed as to cause...just stopping the bleeding this time is not the solution to the problem...it is only taking care of the symptom of the problem. Time for a specialist or my favorite, a vet school, where you will have people that specialize in blood dyscrasias and clotting factor issues. Infusing platelets keeps coming to me.... CLOTTING DISORDERS The main clinical sign is bleeding. This can be manifest as small or larger hemorrhages or bruises on the skin, lips, gums and other moist membranes. Bleeding from gums, lips, anus or genitals may occur. Bloody or dark stools may be present. Some dogs may have spontaneous nosebleeds or bloody urine, or blood clots may form under the skin. Dogs may fail to clot when small cuts or cut toenails bleed. Dogs can undergo "routine" surgery and bleed heavily during or after the surgery. In most cases, bleeding is sudden, unexpected and without warning. Many dogs have otherwise been normal. Diagnosis is based on historical information, clinical signs, blood and platelet counts, serum chemistries, hormone analysis, X-rays, specific serologic tests and clotting tests to determine the specific defects and clotting times. Bone marrow and liver biopsy may be indicated, but consideration is always given to the potential for severe bleeding should this type of surgery be needed. TREATMENT OF CLOTTING DISORDERS As always, specific treatment related to any underlying condition is the first approach to curing bleeding disease. For more severe or immediate cases, IV fluids, vitamin K, calcium injections, blood, platelet or plasma transfusions and supportive care are all necessary. B-vitamin/iron supplements to build the blood are often employed. As most dogs have some other dysfunction that leads to clotting problems, most dogs can live a normal life with proper treatment. |
I called the vet today as he asked and we both decided I should bring him in today as well as Monday. He is looking better. He is eating and drinking and pottys. Yesterday when I brought him home a little excess blood came out after he urinated but today has been fine. Yay. His gums are nice and pink. We decided to put him on antibiotics for just in case while he is still healing. Tomorrow I will give him his vitamin K and from now on he will routinely have vitamins to help prevent potential problems in future. He is still in "bed rest" mode but it sure doesn't stop him from talking! I am sure all of you know what fun it can be to keep a Yorky in "bed rest" mode. Not easy. We do have Rosy and him separated which they both hate but they don't always know what's best for them. Hopefully soon I won't have to post in this thread anymore and can enjoy posting in other areas of this site. :) Thank you again for all the support. May this never happen to anyone else. |
I'm glad Bojo is home and pray for his continuing recovery. Sending hugs to Bojo and Rosy too. |
welcome to yt, we all love our fur kids here, Im sorry bojo is not feeling well, I hope he is better soon |
I'm happy your little guy is doing better. What is even better is that he can stay home with you. I know exactly how hard it is to keep a yorkie calm. Have just been through a cruciate ligament repair and luxating patella surgery at a specialty hospital and passed ten weeks post-surgery ourselves. I'm still keeping your precious Bojo in my prayers that he will get well soon. |
Poor little guy. It amazing how something as routine as a neuter can end up like this. I'm so glad you have him home. I hate leaving them at the vet when there is no one to watch them through the night. When my Heidi had to have fluids for three day for kidney failure I would take her when they opened in the morning, sit and hold her all day so she didn't have to go in a cage and take her home when they closed at night. She was such a good girl but was really attached to me and didn't want me out of her site. I pray that your little one continues to improve. |
I am so glad BOJO is home with you. I wanted to share this link to a website for you: www.hemopet.org Charitable organization founded by Dr Jean Dodds. Here is where you can get blood products. She has a rescue greyhound organization and many of the greyhounds are the blood donors. I do hope you proceed along a path of trying to find out the"why" of the clotting problem. |
I'm so sorry Bojo is going through this. My thoughts and prayers are with you. |
