Yorkie Talker | Allergy ? Hi I have a 3 yr old (Lexie) She started last week with a constant swallowing issue like if she had phelm and was trying to clear her throat, the her bark day by day became more hoarse. I took her last Fri to the vet for her yearly checkup and to check on this. She came out with a clean bill of health, so myself and the vet are thinking of allergies. She does walk every morning and evening through the park/woods cause she be picking up pollen from the grass and trees ? She is eating and drinking well. But she gets scared when she goes into this swalling fit. I appreciate someone's input. thanks Mike |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Does she snore at all? Does her nose get stuffy at any time? It could be seasonal allergies...altho, most (stress most) dogs will also scratch, chew/lick their paws etc w/ allergies. Can you describe what you mean by her getting scared? Is she scared bc the throat thing is causing breathing issues...or...?

Yorkie Talker | No she doesn' snore. She mike scratch on occasion but not much or at least when I'm around. She gets scared because she goes into the swalling issue I guess she has the phlem and she has problem swallowing. but she eats/drinks, plays fetch ok. The reason she goes through the heavy brush and woods is that I also have a Jack Russell so she follows and mimicks everthing he does. She thinks she is a Jack ! LOL I also haven't given her a bath in the last couple of weeks, and I try to wash her paws after her walks but not constant. Maybe try some wipes if I can't bath her. Just don't want to give her Benadryl or something like that would make her groggy. thank You |

| Your vet should check her for collapsed trachea. It is so common with yorkies it needs to be ruled out
