| Are you seeing changes in the texture of her skin where it's discolored? Does she keep herself awake bc of scratching?

| Thanks for all of the comments & support, it means alot . I'm keeping my fingers crossed the vets are open tomorrow!! Quote:
She doesn't keep herself awake scratching. She usually scratches when we come in from outside or when she just wakes up.

| Poor baby! Looks like Sophia is definitely allergic to something. Sending prayers that you can get in to see the vet tomorrow and find out what it is. Max's mysterious black spots on his inner legs that I posted a picture of on your thread when Sophia had the rest splotches, they were diagnosed as a grass allergy. His spots were not itchy. He had them once last year and once this year, and the doc gave him antibiotics both times. I pray Sophia is all better soon!

| Question what areas of her body is she biting? I am asking because Lizzie bites her feet and I freaked out. I talked to my breeder and vet. she had no rashes, flaking, or soars. The vet told me a lot of dogs have allergies and this is away they react I noticed more in the spring an fall months. If you have ruled out other causes it may just be a pollen allergies I even notice Lizzie sneeze more when she does it |

| My Gidget bites herself, too. The vet has told me it is a nervous tendency in small dogs and he wanted to prescribe her Amitriptyline for obsessive/compulsive behavior. I really did not want to go that route and I know for a fact it is not her food, so I treat the bites with zymox topical ointment, it is relatively cheap and you can get it two day shipping through amazon. It works wonders for the sores and to keep them at bay I use the zymox shampoo and rinse and it seems to really help, so like you I do not think it is a nervous tendency, I think it is environmental! |

| I know this is a really dumb question but does she have fleas? Sometimes even one or two fleas can cause lots of skin damage if the dog is allergic to them. Hope it is something easy to fix. Good luck.

| I should probably clarify this. I do not mean that pups cannot get a resistant staph and awful staph infection..... I am referring to the typical skin infections that they often get.

| Thinking of Sophia today. Sending positive thoughts for her when she sees the vet. Glad to hear she wasn't itching or biting today.
