| DO NOT USE MOMETAMAX!!!!! Read entire blog first! Ian was prescribed this a while back, and had a bad reaction (I posted about it before.) I found this blog (my post is the last one, so far) and could not believe that this med is not banned! Read this before using it! PetMeds Pet Ear Antibiotic Mometamax | PetMeds Blog

| There are side effects to every medication. I have used Mometamax many, many times without an issue. I did have one pup have a reaction which I have posted on YT in the past. He lost his hearing on Day 2 of being treated with it. I immediately picked up on this because he was acting very odd...took him to the vet and they flushed his ears. He was good as new in no time! You just have to always be aware of the side effects of any medication that you or your pups are prescribed. I suggest reading the side effects prior to taking the med or giving it to your pups...that way you can make a decision about whether you want to use it or not. If we refused to use all meds that caused a side effect or reaction, we would not be taking any of them.

| Oh no, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. Unfortunately, every drug for human or canine or other has side effects that affect a small number of users. Motamax (sp) is one of my "go to" drugs, I use if frequently for Miss Mini, for her it works wonders. Its always important to ask your vet about ANY med your pet is taking, research the side effects, discuss concerns with your vet, and then make a decision on its use.

| I have a Goldie that has chronic ear infections due to lots of different allergens, and honestly the most effective medication we have such on her is zymox with the hyrdocortisone. It is inexpensive, it works fast and as long as we remember to put a drop in each ear 2x a week it keeps her ear infections at bay! We also use the zymox shampoo and rinse on all the dogs, it is great stuff. As a matter of fact I mentioned it to my vet and he had never heard of it, I must have really sold him on it because now his office carries it. I cannot say enough good things about the zymox products! |
