Luxating Patella is graded 1 - 4. Here is a link about LP that may be helpful. If your puppy has such a degree of LP, I am quite sure she should be seen by a board certified orthopedic surgeon.

Ditto, sorry to hear about Bailey. My Gatsby has Stage 4 also. I was really shocked when I first heard the news, and his legs are prone to being somewhat disjointed, but that diagnosis was 2 years back and he is fine for the most part. I try and carry him down the stairs, but it absolutely has not impacted his desire to play fetch constantly or go on long walks. From my short experience, it is manageable. We do give him glucosomine, but who knows if that is doing any good. Good luck and recommend you dont rush into anything.

Hmmm, then I think I might of misunderstood my vet. I will call them tomorrow. Now I don't know if Mikki has a 4 or if it was a 3. Crap. Getting old sucks! I just don't remember what he said! Thanks for the link. I will check with my vet tomorrow too.

Bevo has had issues since he was about 6 months old... At one point he wouldnt use his rear right leg at all for about 4 weeks,,,we scheduled the surgery, then suddenly he was better, so we put off the surgery!! Just keep an eye on her...she may never need to have surgery!!!

Anyways, I'm sorry your Bailey has this problem.

Me either. The orthopedic surgeon who operated on my Zada the second time, said there is four stages, and four being the worst since the knee cap is off to the side and won't stay in the groove at all.

I do hope your baby will be ok, but I think I'd find an orthopedic Vet.

I researched and only found up to a 4. I was going off my vet sorry for the confusion.

All I can say is, if your vet does not know that, all the more reason to consult with a board certified ortho surgeon. He/she will be able to advise you and will certainly know how to grade LP.
