I'm still waiting to hear too! I don't know how long it is supposed to take, but we had the sample at the lab as soon as they opened this morning.

Thanks! We still have not heard a thing. If there's no message on the voicemail when we get home tonight, I'll call tomorrow. We just got a bill in the mail from her last urinalysis (she was really busy and didn't have time to let us pay) so it would be nice to go in to pay for that and the culture and get the results all at the same time.

Just seeing this. I'll also be keeping my fingers crossed that everything clears up. I am constantly inspired by stories such as Layla's, as both your sacrifice and her strength reminds me of all the great dog/pet owners out there...takes some of the depression out of reading about the number of pets who are "thrown" away when they become inconvenient!

Sorry, I was busy for the weekend and just got back to update!

Layla's vet left a message on our phone on Friday, and we found out she has 4 kinds of bacteria, including E. Coli. The only antibiotic she has resistance to is penicillin. So the vet sent us home with amoxicillin and thinks it should clear it up. She wants us to get her checked a lot more often and she thinks she will probably have to be on antibiotics for the rest of her life, whether it's every month or every few months or whatever.

Well, thank goodness she is not resistant to a lot like Gabby was. I think I told you that A&M suggested that Gabby take one dose of Nitrofurantoin nightly for the rest of her life. You might want to ask about that.
Hopefully Layla's urine will clear up quickly!

I am just seeing this thread. I was thinking about you all and wondering how you were doing. Congratulations on the new additions. I am so sorry to hear that Layla is having more issues. Poor Layla and Gabby sending prayers that they both conquer their infections and find an solution to keep them from reoccurring. Blessings on these furbabies.
