Stomach obstruction I'm so sad
 

My baby Thor will be 1 on Christmas day but tonight he is at the vets office. Sunday he began vomiting all day on and off then became very lethargic. He would act like he wanted to eat so I made him rice and boiled chicken but he would only take a few bites. No diarrhea and still drinking water.
I was at the vet at 8am they immediately did blood work, took stool samples and all look fine.
They did a barium study and there is something in his stomach. After 5 hours and 3xrays they could see the barium had worked its way thru the intestines but still had a big spot of it sitting in his tummy.
We are waiting for the next X-ray at 8am and if the barium is still there he will go straight to surgery.
I can't imagine what it can be. He is always with me and I have not seen him get into anything. I'm so attached to my little friend. All I can do is cry and I'm not a cryer but can seem to stop.

Please pray for him I know to power of prayer and he needs you now. :(

I am so sorry to hear about your little Thor. It's so hard to see them in pain or discomfort and feel so helpless. Sending healing prayers to the hands looking after him in the next few days.

Oh poor Thor...I will keep you both in my thoughts for good news tomorrow and that he recovers quickly.

I know the power of prayer too and know that God cares for these little ones. I have seen too many times when God touched one and they were healed. Prayed for Thor and just keep believing he is going to be okay. Let us know when you find out anything. These babies can get into things so fast. We are just going to pray everything is going to be okay.

Surgery
 

Well the mass/object is still there. Vet will be doing surgery in about 30 min. Thank god they ate not dragging this out. I'll post more after the surgery I'm not leaving the vets office till I know he is ok.

Out of Surgery
 

First and foremost thank you all for your support and prayers. The surgery is over and so far he is doing fine. The vet was really surpriced at the mass of weird wicker looking sticks in his tummy and how many there was. She said she kept pulling them out and pulling them out.
I will be able to see him at noon he was still very out of it and the vet said the next 5 days are critical to his full recovery. She said it was an easy surgery and she anticipates he will be just fine as long as we can get him to eat small amounts starting tomorrow.

I have been trying to figure out what he could have gotten into so that I can remove it but nothing was coming to me till I walked into the house and saw my lamp..... Attachment 358878

It's a tall lamp really beautiful hard to see if there are any pieces missing I've looked but I did find a few on the floor so I'm guessing this is were it came from. I'm doing a test right now, I have some in water making it soft and breaking it up. I'll take it to the vet at noon when I can go back to see him and ask her if this is what she found. If it is then this lamp is now valued at over 766.00 dollars the cost so far for the surgery and we still have 72 hours to go..... I will be getting the lamp out of the house if she tells me this is what he got into.

I love this little guy with all my heart and I thank god we have the means to pay for all this. How fast and how scary it was to see him so sick.

Oh I'm so glad he made it through surgery well. Hopefully he heals up and is able to eat soon.

So, he has a thing for whicker, huh? I would not only remove the lamp, but would remove anything within his reach made of whicker. These little stinkers can get themselves into some crazy messes sometimes! :rolleyes: He is lucky to have a momma who loves him enough to get him the help he needs!

I feel for you and I hope Thor pulls thru this. The good thing is that they now know what they are dealing with. My girl Misty is like a yorkie vacuum and we have to watch for everything on the floors and outside where she plays. My baby girl has had 2 anemic episodes and it breaks your heart to see them in any discomfort. And I'm a grown man-lol.
