I am so glad that Thor is out of surgery. Prayers for his recovery. |
I'm glad Thor pulled out of the surgery alright. It's interesting that he'd pick that up, but nothing shocks me anymore. My brother's dog ate Christmas lights off the tree the first year they had him. But still continuing to send prayers your way! Thanks for keeping us updated! |
Sending get well prayers for Thor and hugs for both of you. My Sammy had the same surgery when he was 4. The vet saved what she took out. It looked like a tire from a toy car, but we weren't really sure. I don't know how he even swallowed it!! Sam was in the hospital for about 5 days after surgery and came home with a pain patch (fentanol-not sure of spelling). The hardest part was to keep him enclosed in the dining room and kitchen so he couldn't jump and be wild. He was a little subdued the first day home. Then we returned to have the pain patch removed and a few days later went back again for a recheck. Hope your baby Thor is home soon. It is so nerve wracking when they are sick. |
Thor the Lamp:animal36Eater...well, chalk this one up to a new chew treat!;) Well...on the brighter side of this, you were able to get him the immediate care he needed and he will live a long life with you by his side! Probably a good time to survey your home for any other items that you might consider Thor could munch on and then, remove them from his reach. I was just telling MichaMyLove (aka, Betty) how my last two foster puppies left me a "carving" remembrance on the corners of my beautiful Pottery Barn Bedroom set...I was lucky though, they did not suffer for it and they did a beautiful job of evening out the grooves on each side of the bureau & armouire...:p Gentle hugs for Thor and you too! |
They eat the darnest things! So glad Thor is out of surgery...sending get well wishes. |
Sending our best to you and Thor |
Glad Thor made it out of surgery and is on the mend:) |
Just seeing this thread...thank God Thor has such a loving family that immediately noted a problem and got him to the vet! I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. |

The Lamp... As soon as the vet saw it she said YUP that's what we pulled out of his tummy. At least I know what it was and know what I need to do in order for it to not happen again. Thor is doing remarkably well. I got to hold him at sit with him he was wiggling his little tail which has been down for 4 days. I was soooooo happy to see that - and he gave me lots of kisses as I did him. It was sad to see the incision but the vet did a very nice job. I'm feeling better but wont be complete until he is home in 72 hours. I'm in the count down. THANK YOU EVERYONE WHAT AN AWESOME GROUP YOU ARE! |
Just seeing this thread, glad that Thor is doing well. |
So glad that Thor is going to be ok. I will be keeping him in my prayer for a full, speedy recovery. |
So glad little Thor is going to be okay. Dudley like to chew on wicker too. I had to take out some wicker beds I had for my schnauzers because he chewed on them. I have wicker on the patio but they don't seem to bother it outside. Probably when he gets over the chewing stage he won't even pay any attention to it. I have one wicker bed left in the back of the house and so far Dudley has not chewed on it. These little buggers get into everything. I feel like sometimes I have 4 kids all going through the terrible two's. Keep us informed on that baby but he is going to be fine. Thank God you got him to the vet in time. |
So glad to hear that Thor..the lamp eater..is doing fine after his surgery....how scary! Don't forget to check for wicker baskets too. Trixie chewed when she was a puppy, but her interest was in my dining room table and chair legs  She did quite a job on a few claw feet legs. They are tricky little guys....always into something. |
Thor...Former God, notorious lamp eater... Love it! Glad he's feeling better and on the mend! |
Checking for a Thor update...hope he is continuing to do well. |

He is GREAT this morning he ate all his food, pooped and moved around so much his IV line looked like a slinky. They removed his IV and said they dont think he will need it since he is eating and drinking. I'm going back at 2:00 to visit him and to talk to the vet she was already in surgery when I got there. The staff said that he is acting like nothing every happened. Thor looked great and was very happy to see his mama. |
Awesome!! So happy to hear that Thor is doing so well! :) |
Yay!!!! Go Thor!:cheer::cheer: |
Thor may be acting like nothing ever happened, but his mommie will have to recover. We had a beautiful doggie cushion in a basket in my sewing room, now it is just a cushion and the basket is in a closet somewhere. Firewood stacked on the fireplace is the new consern. I keep telling mine that she is NOT a beaver. I dont even have to say "drop it" anymore,I just look at her and she starts spitting whatever it is out. So glad that your baby is recovering. |
Oh my! Just now seeing this thread! Prayers going out for little Thor for a continued speedy recovery. Can't wait to hear he is back at home with his Mommie! |
Oh yay! So glad Thor is doing so well! :woohoo: |
I'm glad to hear that Thor is doing well. Sending get well hugs to him!! |

Oh my goodness what a frightening experience! I'm so glad that Thor is doing well and that you were able to figure out what he got into so he can't do it again. Some days they surely do keep you on your toes don't they! What a nice Christmas blessing for Thor to be doing so well and coming home soon. May he continue to improve and be back to his busy little self. |
Just seeing this thread what a scary time for Thor and his Mom. I am so happy to hear he is recovering so well! Sending prayers for his continued recovery! |
Coming Home Gosh I'm going to have the longest night, the vet said the little man can come home in the morning!!!!! I'm so happy, he ate his regular food mixed with some soft food and did great. He will still be on meds for pain and won't be able to jump around so I'm going to have to keep him still but I'm ready for the challenge. The lamp GONE..... :wavey: You know I stopped reading this forum a while back because sometimes it seems like we attack people when they are just trying to get advise. BUT I can understand how stressful it is to read about a pet that is not getting the needed help right away. If I had waited and kept thinking he would be fine I would have lost my best friend. I urge those people that post for advise to understand how fragile these little guys can be and know we just want the best for you and your buddy. If your gut tells you something is really wrong just go and take them to the vet- you won't regret it. I appreciate all the post with stories, prayers and well wishes you all have renewed my faith in this forum and the real reason why it's here --- to support each other when we need it most. |
I'm so happy to read that Thor is doing well and will be home tomorrow! Give him a hug and a smooch from all of us. ;) |
