I am happy to hear that "Mr. Winky" stayed in and that Sammy is doing so well.

Well, I'm glad Mr. Winky decided to stop playing peek-a-boo with you.:D

Seriously, that's great news. Then it may have just been from the swelling and it has gone down. Whatever the reason, I'm glad he's doing so well. He deserves no less!:)

I am, too. :p

Yeah, I am very pleased that this was not so difficult on him. He is a pretty amazing little guy....with so many awful conditions, he just plugs along. I really need to get a video of him playing with a toy...he is a total trip.

yorkieusa 06-18-2012 06:42 PM

He's actually a little miracle. If you get a video, I want to see it.:)

He really is!! Thank you. :) I am just so amazed with this little darling...he is truly a miracle. I think I am going to take him to the dog show a couple of days this year. He really loves people and is quite the charmer. :)

Maximo 06-22-2012 08:39 AM

Very happy to hear Sammy is doing well and hope he enjoys the show.

Videos of Sammy

As promised, here are a couple of videos of Sammy. It gives you a good idea of how he walks. He does really well in spite of all of his issues. In the one with the little yellow duck, when I reach in to squeak that toy, he bites me (not very many teeth, so no damage) .. but that is what I am giggling about. He is so cute...does not want anyone to take his toys away from him. :)

My pups are watching from the house and barking their fool heads off. :D

Just seeing this thread.
Wow.
I see where you're comming from on a lot of things now reading this thread second opinions really xan be life saving.
Sammy is beautiful.
I see now what AAI is and thanks for explaining it on the other thread.
Give Sammy a snuggle for us, that lil squeaky duck is Elvis' fav. toy! We get one everytime we order grom an online retailer.

Thanks for posting the video of sweet Sammy. What a cutie and helps me understand his issues. He looks like he has an amazingly great temperament. :D

TxVicki 07-04-2012 04:36 AM

Yes, he really does! :D I know that when people see the list of things that are wrong with him, they perhaps wonder why do all that we do. I would think the same thing....how much do you put a pup through and what is the quality of life? Sammy is a truly amazing pupster. You can see that he is a bit out of kilter with his gait, but he gets around just fine, loves to eat and loves toys. Clearly he is doing better than you would think by looking at his run down of problems. I weighed all of this before his recent surgery at Texas A&M. He recovered really well and I am so glad we took him there!

Really you cannot see AAI when watching Sammy...it is more the other neuro ssues that he has that make him walk the way he does.
Yes, second opinions are very important! :)
Yeah...that little duck is definitely Sammy's favorite! :)

yorkieusa 07-04-2012 05:49 AM

Thank you for posting these cute videos of Sammy. He's so little and cute! The one toy is almost as big as he is!!!!:D

I know....he really does not care because he just loves the squeaks, but I find that with the bigger ones, he is less apt to drag them. :D

He is so funny....he can be sound asleep and if he hears a toy squeaking, he comes running.

Sammy looks very Happy in his new home . I can't believe his previous owner did nothing to find the cause of his issues for , what 10 yrs ? UGH ! I can imagine that at times this little one had some serious headaches from the pressure in his tiny head.:(

You are an amazing person. Thanks for all you do for these furbabies.

What an adorable pup Sammy is.

ladyjane 07-06-2012 08:59 AM

Thank you for your kind words. :)

Yes, Sammy is a little doll. I hope one day he will get his very own home where he can be someone's little prince. Of course, he can stay with me for as long as needed, but my wish is always for them to find their own.

I just saw Sammy mentioned in another thread and I realized that I had not posted that he went to Rainbow Bridge. His bladder had somehow come loose again and was trapped in his hernia and after consulting with the vets, there really was nothing else we could do. He was really struggling...we got it out and it went back in. We made a decision to let Sammy go in peace. My heart still hurts whenever I think of him...he was still lucid and all but there are only so many surgeries you can perform before you realize something cannot be repaired. :( Here is what is on the YHR website about him:

April 29, 2013 - At 6:00 PM this evening Sammy, our little trooper, went to Rainbow Bridge, held in his foster mom's arms. He will be missed but we take comfort in knowing that he is now pain free and romping in the grass and flowers alongside his foster brother, Sunny D, who recently went to the Bridge. Hopefully they both have lots of squeaky toys that they both loved so very much!

Thank you to everyone who helped us help Sammy to live a good life in his foster home these past 2 years. He was quite a little charmer. :)

lillymae 06-01-2013 12:20 AM

I am so sorry to hear little Sammy went to the bridge. He fought the long fight & I'm glad he had the Love & care he deserved in his last yrs.

Thank you both. It still hurts if I allow myself to dwell on it...I just have to keep focused and know that he is indeed at peace.
