YorkieTalk Newbie! | surgery for my little baby hi i need to post this..... in december of last year i purchased a yorkie puppyHe is beautiful and smart and has the best personality ever!!! a few months ago we noticed he was not using one of his back legs. as time went on this didnt improve. so off to the vet with the baby!! turns out little gunther has a genetic hip disorder that required surgery ... now my little man is 2 days out of surgery....still in alot of pain and faces a 6 month rehab!!. The vet didnt say ...but i believe this is because the breeders didnt knnow what they were doing...and either bred too small or too many times. My heart breaks for Gunther...he is a dream dog and i love him so much. The vet says it will be a 6 month process to get him healed and using the leg. Now for the record when i bought him i wasnt looking for a 'toy' or a 'teacup"...i wanted a regular yorkie. my baby is very small he weighs 3.5 pounds..I wish people were more responsible with the breeding they do.....there is more to life then money. Gunther can never be bred ...this hip issue is genetic and could be passed on. THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!I couldnt imagine putting a baby through that again (or a momma).I love my little boy and will take GREAT care of him.....I am new and dont know how to post in forums or add pics of the baby thanks for listening |

| I'm sorry your lil guy had to go through that. It happens a lot. I'm sure it will be hard to go for six months. That's a long time! I can tell you love him very much and that is a very important ingredient for his healing. Let us know exactly what was wrong with him and be sure to keep us updated as time passes.
