| Hailey's Biopsy side effects? The vet called me today while I was on my lunch break at home. As you may or may not have known, Hailey, at 7 months weighing 3 pounds had an biopsy last Thursday and the vet removed a small chicken bone and few pieces of chicken jerky in her esophagus. The reception who called was using all these medical words and I was at the food court so it was really loud. From what I've heard her say, she said that Hailey might have to go back for weekly sessions of this procedure which requires to inhale a balloon into her esophagus. She said a client had a Westie and had the same procedure done. The westie was not eating/eating slowly. I'm assuming they were talking about because of her wound, it has caused her esophagus to shrink? I told them Hailey was active, eating and barking normally. I'm seeing the vet tomorrow morning to do a check up on Hailey but I don't know if I can even sleep tonight considering this poor girl may have to go through all these procedures. So, by any chance, have any of you guys experience something like this? If so, please share! I really can't wait until tomorrow! I've been so scared and nervous! Sorry for the lack of detail, as I was only speaking to the receptionist!

| I don't have any experience with this, but I wanted to send best wishes for your baby for a good check up with the vet. I recommend speaking only to the vet about anything concerning your baby's health. The receptionist and techs should not be talking to you about these matters. Take notes when talking to the doctor and if you don't understand something, ask questions. Speak up for your pup.

| From what you have shared, it sounds like maybe scarring has caused a narrowing of your baby's esophagus and that they want to be a procedure that stretches the esophageal walls. Like said before, I would talk to your vet about this procedure - risks, benefits, what to expect, what is the prognosis with and without the procedure. The vet should be going over all of this with you personally before he/she performs a procedure on your pet. Please be careful in the future with animal bones of any kind. Your dog is still young, and I would not get it in the habit of eating ppl food. It really is not good for the dog. They do not digest the way we do. They are not capable of handling the fried, spicy, fatty foods we are. Bones can not only lodge, but they can perforate the intestines - which would need surgery to repair. I know your pup looks at you with those puppy eyes, but she does not understand the dangers of what she is asking you for. Please let us know how she is doing. She is such a cutie in your avatar!
