Praying today is much better for Rylee and you. |
Just saw your update. Poor Rylee. I hope he doesn't have to have his ear clipped. |

I am sorry -- sometimes I hate when dogs act like... dogs! lol. My dads dog is a long haired Dachshund mix and a total sweetheart. Jackson and him get along great and always have been good little buddies. But one day, they both jumped off the couch at the same time going for the same bully stick and omg it was the loudest fight/brawl ever, I thought they were killing each other. Me and my stepmom separated them and Jackson did end up having a little cut on his ear, but 5 minutes later they were fine and playing together again. I hope the two dogs can work it out in the future. |
Oweee! Poor Rylee. Just saw this sad picture...hope he heals quickly and doesn't need any clip. |
They pretty much still seem to hate each other (from a distance). And we wanted them to be best friends. Family gatherings will be interesting for the next 10-15 years. Anyway, I've been thinking about this and feel the need to put a disclaimer in this thread. I can see it now. Somebody is up with their dog at 3AM and its ear is bleeding like a fountain. Person decides to look through old YT threads trying to find out what to do in this case (all while dog is gushing- and yes, I do believe this happens). Please get off the computer and go to the nearest ER immediately. Just because my vet thought it was ok to skip it for my dog, that does NOT mean it's ok to skip it for your dog based on that. If this ever happens to your pups, please go in. I don't want any dogs bleeding to death just because owner read a post that one dog in one circumstance was fine with home care and then decided to apply that to their own dog without veterinary oversight. If your dog's ear is bleeding like a fountain, go to the ER. Disclaimer over. :) I just find it incredibly scary what some people take from an online forum. Rylee sends kisses to everybody. |
So sorry your visit turned out bad for the dogs..:( Poor Rylee....I hope his ear will heal up and he will not need it to be clipped... try to enjoy the rest of your time with your sis! :) |
Rylee is such an affectionate little fellow. :) Tell him not to worry about his ear. My neighbor's beagle has the same injury and I don't even notice it unless the young boy who walks the dog shows me, as he often does. The beagle doesn't have the added benefit of Rylee's pretty hair. You should add to your tagline, "Don't try this at home" :D |
LOL. Yeah, I wouldn't want anybody here trying some of the stuff I do at home. I get vet permission before doing anything too crazy. And some ER vets are really...sedation happy because they don't want their techs to have to restrain much and hate animals being in some pain for a few minutes while they do a procedure (which is fine, but some pain for a few minutes is usually better than taking any risk sedating them). He has never had bloodwork and it's not something I wanted to do knowing that my vet thought it would stop on its own. Now if it had been Ellie and her tiny lil self, I'd have been much more concerned and probably would have went. |
Glad his bleeding is over and hope he's feeling better and his soreness from the missing ear is not so bad. I agree that a bit of pain at vets is better (to me) than sedation. I hope Tibbe agrees with that if we are ever in that position! I'm that way personally! I'd rather hurt a bit than have a bunch of drugs - and I hate pain but hate the drugs more. Hope Rylee's coming week is a healing one and hope you've gotten some rest. You had quite a time! |
