I'm so sorry. I swear when it rains it pours (no pun). I hope things turn around for you soon, and I have a feeling they will. |
I am so sorry to read this :( I hate Jackson has had to go through so much, but I sure am glad he will be home soon. I have Sophie on TOTW also. Same formula. She is just now in the last 2 days completely on this after mixing with her Wellness for many weeks. Should the TOTW concern me? What do you think? Sophie gets no table food....well, when I say none I'd say MAYBE 1%. Usually just a bite of bread or chicken if I'm boiling some for a casserole, etc. She does get wet food (sad to say, but she gets Cesar...1/2 can every morning for "breakfast") and she does get different type of treats...usually liver flavored. I worry sooo much about what she eats. My husband and teen daughter always ask, "Can she have a bite of this?" whenever they have something, and I always say, "NOOOO!!!", and to NEVER feed her ANYTHING but the dog food and treats I have. They listen to me thank goodness. I love her so much and for sure don't want to have to go through what you have been through. Give Jackson kisses from Sophie. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Oh, and sorry about the other traumatic events you've had to deal with too. Seems bad luck comes in 3's...here's hoping that's all the bad luck you'll have. |
WOOHOO!!! Good news!! Jackson gets to come home tonight. I pick him up at 7:30, they are keeping him on fluids until then so he gets as much as possible. Doc said just feed him very small amounts of the Purina E/N for the next few days. He's going to give me 2 weeks supply I think. Nothing else. He said lean boiled chicken is perfectly fine, but obviously not right away, just later down the road. He may have diarrhea for the next few days, don't be alarmed. Gonna schedule him to come into vet again on Thursday to re-do bloodwork. He said this one level (sorry I don't know exactly what it is right now) was really high, like 3500 and it was supposed to only be like 1500 or 1800 or something like that. It went down by over 1000 today. He also will have to urinate alot tonight probably. I'll find everything else out soon but I get to see my baby!! |
Yay!!! :yay_jump: This is great to hear!! Ok, today is turning around! :) |
It is a good thing Jackson wasn't home with you during all of that! Is your house okay? All of your electronics? Sending positive energy your way for this rough patch to pass. |
This is such good news. You have definitely have a crazy couple of days between Jackson and the lightening. Take it easy and enjoy having him home tonight. We will continue to keep him in our prayers. |

Only thing out is our big TV and it's TV box which is the only major electronic that was on/plugged in during the storm. It's what I was watching and it made a loud noise and went black real quick, lol. Yikes!!! We are really lucky-- just saw on news that a house 10 mins away from us caught on fire due to lightening. |

The lipase and amylase elevate with pancreatitis. The amylase usually normalizes before the lipase. Yes, he will void more because of the fluids. Here is a link that I don't know if anyone has posted...but is a good one for information on pancreatitis. Canine Pancreatitis |
So glad Jackson is coming home tonight!!!! |
You are very lucky that your house did not catch fire. That has happened to a few houses in our area. Lightning hit my next-door neighbor's pool a few years ago, so I know how loud it is. I was washing dishes and I jumped back from the sink, dropping the pan I had in my hands. The bug zappers hanging in the neighbor's tree burst into flames and another neighbor had to replace her washer/dryer and all electronics. |

Thanks for the link. I'm going to go read. I don't believe you posted it yet. |
Very happy to read Jackson is coming home tonight!!! I am so happy for you. (I missed your update above...someone keeps distracting me here) Give him lots of hugs from me and the boys. I hope both of you enjoy a peaceful night of rest and relaxation. |
So glad Jackson is coming home to you tonight. That's the best feeling ever. Give him a hug from Princess & me.:) |
Britster, you and Jackson have sure been through it lately. I had a tree in my backyard struck by lightening when I was on a business trip and came home to fried electronics throughout - A-C, TV, etc. It was scarey after the fact when my next door neighbor described how the sound and concussion almost knocked her and her husband out of their beds in the wee hours when the lightening struck! She said they shook for hours and called the Fire Department just in case. That tree of course is long gone in addition to the electronics. Thank God my home was fine. I am just glad I wasn't here! Glad your Jackson didn't have to experience that as it could have really upset him because a very close lightening strike can be extremely violent. As for staggering vet bills, they sort of fry our brain, don't they? It is shocking how much a couple of days' stay, meds, IV's and such can cost. Whew! And not to mention the worry and stress of your very own baby being so ill and vulnerable. Hope you two can have a few "down" days to destress and take care of yourselves. I pray for only the best for you two and hope Jackson is back to his vigorous lifestyle before long. |
