Paris: Always in my ♥ Donating YT Member | Yelping and holding legs up Poor blind Paris, all he needs is another problem. Yesterday he was playing with his squeaky sock and suddenly yelped and was holding his rear leg up. He was shaking with pain. I held him and soothed him and then he was ok. Later the same day he did it again this time the front paw. Is this luxating patella? I have taken his sock away for now thinking he has pulled a muscle from playing tug a war? He had this before but when xrays were taken, nothing! He is fine now. Any ideas? www.paristheblindwonderdog.blogspot.com |

| My little Cricket would do the same thing w luxating patellas a couple of times in her life. As she got to be an older dog, she did the same thing w arthritis. She had to be put on pain meds for her arthritis (and Glucosamine Chondroitin). Maybe you would want the vet to look at Paris. If it is arthritis, he can prescribe pain meds for you to use if this is going to be a chronic thing. It might also be a pulled muscle or something like that. I think I would get him looked at just in case. Pain meds would help keep him more comfortable even if it is a pulled muscle.

Paris: Always in my ♥ Donating YT Member | Thanks for the quick response. I was thinking of having Paris a "back to school" checkup. I have to go back to work (at school) and am concerned about leaving him at home alone. Of course I have left him alone all his life, it's just now he is blind and has the CT coughing fits. Maybe I can get a photo if it happens again to show the vet. |

| If he has LP it can be diagnosed by a vet without an xray. They should be able to examine him and determine if he has it. As for meds, you might want to ask the vet about an anti inflammatory instead of pain meds. They will reduce any inflammation and also help with the discomfort.

| Oh, I just saw that he did that with his front paw. That is certainly not LP as there is no knee there. I think that a video might be helpful. Poor little guy.
