Could be stress or could be the chicken or something else entirely. Gums pink and wet? Maybe she needs to be on I/D exclusively? Not going to be able to get drugs now unless you end up at the ER. The owners that keep them on hand tend to have dogs with the same issue happening over and over where a drug helps (like metronidazole). If the vet hasn't suggested it, then probably not worth asking. |

Yes, her gums appear to be fine. I may ask him tomorrow just to see what he says. Wouldn't hurt! Thank you! |

Sorry Rosie is having some tummy issues. My vet gives me metronidazole for Cali as she has colitis. I also have to keep all of mine on a very strict diet, when ever I vary it 2 or more end up with diarrhea. Stress can upset Cali and give her loose stools. I would check with your vet if she is still loose tomorrow. Hopefully she will be better in the morning. |
I have heard that plain yogurt is good for upset tummy.. doesn't it have probiotics? Hope she feels better soon, I am sure it also has to do with stress but i think she will get over it. when I first got Sassy Calvin would not have anything to do with me for 2 weeks. |
Hope Rosie feels better fast... Remy had loose stool with the traveling, she is fine now.. Just stress so I hope Rosie will get use to her new sister and be fine |
I just gave her the pumpkin. I am hoping it does the trick. If it doesn't help then I will take her in to the vet. Thanks for all your help! |
I'm sorry Rosie isn't feeling well! I usually give Pnut keopetate (sp) seems to help pretty fast! |
I'm sorry Rosie is not feeling well. I imagine is due to stress. Just cuddle with her tonight and give her the No. 1 spot in the bed that she is used to. It seems like she may need some reassurance. |

I will for sure! :) Took her on another special ride with momma. I think she enjoys that! |
Personally, I would put her back on the I/D and not give her anything else! She was doing fine on that. I am sure she is stressed because of the new family addition. That is perfectly normal. Not eating is also perfectly normal. When I adopt a pup out I let people know that the pup may not eat for 2 or 3 days but not to worry and not to give them something different. Best to let them adjust....they usually will start eating within three days. I have never had a problem with a pup that did not eat....they will eat when they need to! Let her adjust. Let her and also Micki know that she was there first and that she is number one. It takes time for them to understand that they can share and still be loved and happy! :) |

She is still eating the I/D. I am giving her the can only. I will add the dry back in once things settle down. She ate hers and Mikki's this morning!:eek: I separated them but when Rosie finished she went to take Mikki's. I swear I think this little four pound new addition is going to be the dominant one. I don't know why. Rosie will growl at her but Mikki is not scared at all. Right now Rosie just ignores her all the time. And trying to ignore me. Lol. I really think she is mad at me. I still pick her up and make her sit with me to love on her. It has been a rough few days. good think I am off for the summer!! |
Yes nonspiced canned pumpkin (I've heard) should help with the loose stool, but also you can give small amounts of pepto bismol (ask vet for dosage) and that should help any upset tummy/loose stool. I've given it to my yorkie once before when he wouldn't eat and was throwing up from an empty stomach which happens if he doesn't eat for a whole day, vomits the next morning. He's a picky eater so we have to watch his eating carefully. As others have stated it is probably stress from the new addition. If it doesn't clear up with pumpkin, call the vet. Make sure Rosie is drinking plenty of water. |
They should be fed separately (gate, crate, door, or wall between them). Food picked up, then let them be together again. The canned or kibble is probably fine. Your choice as long as she does fine on both - as long as it is just I/D. All treats and chews should be vet approved. |

The quickest way to a problem between dogs is allowing them to get into each others food bowls. |
