| Dammit Zoey!!! My mischevious morkie was up to no good yet again!!! Today, I was enjoying a small juicy red plum and when I reached the plum pit, I accidently dropped it on the floor. Guess who was there to gobble it up whole? Yes Zoey! I started panicking because I didnt think she would pass and then after googling the scenario, I read that pits can be poisonous to dogs! I really went crazy..... Thanks to advice from online vets, I gave her a cap full of 3% peroxide to induce vomiting and placed her in the bathtub to contain her vomit. I was still frantic because I didnt want to poison her any further. LUCKILY, after 5 minutes, she started gagging and sure enough she threw it up! Yay! After cursing me out for confining her to the tub and pouring nasty stuff down her throat, she is now back to happily biting my toes! |

| It is great that you were thinking and knew what to do. My biggest worry is that mine will do something like this, I have 4 so if anything drops they are on it quick as lightning. I don't keep any kind of medicine near the kitchen where they stay. It is really harder than having babies. Glad she is ok even if she is mad at you.

| Thank you! Now that the "urgent" situation has passed, now I am angry with her for being so greedy! She's relaxing in her crate staring at me AS IF I have the darn problem. What nerve! |

| That's why I got peroxide! To keep it for emergency. Glad Zoey is okay!! My little ones learned to stay away when we're eating. They rarely are interested when we eat because we never feed them human food, except the occasional apples.

| I really need to teach her too! Whenever I eat something, she's right there jumping up or giving us that "I havent eaten in 2 years although I just ate 3 minutes ago. Can I have your food?" look! Or she waits until something falls like my plum pit did.... |

| If you say "NO!" every time she's there and be consistent (also never give her human food) then you're good to go!

| Good thinking.... glad that you were able to react in a quick and successful manner!! ....... My little guy Seeger (who is the most likely to pick up anything that is dropped) has learned "drop it".... it has really been a blessing!!!! The other 2 don't pick things up so quickly, but it would be nice for them to catch on and learn it too! Glad things worked out... Whew!

| Happy to hear that your pup is better. For future reference and others reading this thread, vomiting should not be induced for objects like these (unless at the discretion of a vet at a vet office). Hard objects could come up and obstruct the airway. Very dangerous. Always call a vet before inducing vomiting.

| Plum pit My yorkie, Rocky, gobbled up a plum pit a couple of years ago. I was told to watch for it come out the other end. After a few days he regurgitated it himself. I couldn't believe it. I was told that if it did not come out on its own, he might have to have surgery to remove it. Thankfully, he was no worse for it. I don't know where it was during that time but he acted normally the whole time, eating and drinking as usual. |
