| Reoccurring "Cysts" or Interdigital Furuncles on Paws--Please advise! Our puppy-mill rescue Leeza gets growths that look like cysts on both her paws. Leeza is about 5 years old and we have only had her for 6 months. Sometimes she gets them on both front paws at the same time. Our vet is great and has treated them with antibiotics (Simplicef 100mg for 7 days) and steroids (Prednisone 5mg for 5 days, 2.5 for 5 days, 2.5 every other day for approx 6 days). Leeza rook her last steroid a week ago and the same growth is back. Does anyone have experience with this that might help us find a treatment that prevents these "cysts" from coming back? The cysts get large and our little girl has trouble putting any weight on the paw(s). THX! |

| Has your vet spoken with you about possibly removing these cysts?

| My dog Barney has had these interdigital cysts a couple of times. He has gotten them in the past due to allergies. When he got them, our vet prescribed an antibiotic and we did soaks in epsom salts two to three times a day and added a topical triple antibiotic one time when the cyst had opened some. I kept Barney in an e collar during the treatment so he would not lick the area. The cysts resolved in their entirety. If your dog is continuing to get these, I would seek out the opinion of a veterinary dermatologist. However, ask your vet about trying the soaks with epsom salts as this really helped to speed these up for us. Dont do it without asking your vet!
