| i waited a few days for US for our own dr to be back in the office, but she is going to be out of the office for a while longer because she now has a terrible upper respiratory infection going on and isn't feeling well. so i did not want to wait anymore and took zowi in first thing this morning. we got the dr that has been taking her cases while she is away. zowi got some good news and some bad news from US. good news is her bladder and kidney look good and do not have any stones or masses. now for the bad news... dr said as soon as she started the US she noticed zowi's liver very enlarged and much lower than it should be. this is another sign of cushings disease. she has many signs/symptoms of cushings such as: potbelly appearance (we have been dieting and excersing her since last august and she continues to have this big belly and weight gain) weight gain, constantly hungry, diluted urine, she is a spayed female, 10 years old, calcified bumps on her skin (i was told in february before dental they were nothing to worry about) , frequent urination in places she shouldn't be going, increased water consumption, uti (she was also treated for a uti last august), protein in urine, decreased activity (i blamed on her weight and depression from losing nika) , excessive panting (which is now believed to be causing her gas problem) , her bloodwork in february did have high cortisol (223) but i was never even told about that until today. next step is the ACTH test to determine if it is cushings or not and if so, what type we are dealing with. zowi did eat this morning and got her dose of clavamox so they weren't able to do the test today. she needs to fast for 12 hours before doing the test. we do both have work tomorrow and i am trying to get the day off but if i can't she will have the test done saturday at the latest. i am going to start a new thread related to cushings hoping to find some advice on that. i really hope that is not the case, but it seems all signs are pointing to it... i know my baby isn't herself and it just breaks my heart! thank you all for the well wishes and prayers for zowi and please keep them coming!!! they mean the world to us! hugs to you all! ~ carrie
