Email from Tammie 10 min. ago from ER: parvo test is neg. still doing more bloodwork. Hope she sees my message about Xylitol, that is a possibility, and many new owners are not aware of it's danger. |

Tammie replied that the new owners aren't gum chewers or on a diet or diabetic, so doubts that xylitol is involved. Still unsure about the cause. I'm just sick over this. Like many of you who became attached to the Miracle Babies, I feel like an auntie to them. Praying some more, Little Faith please pull thru and be ok..... |

A dog can actually hemmorage to death with Colitis before you ever see blood in the stool. |
I assume they have her on IV ? and do you know if they did an x-ray to rule out that she may have eaten a sharp object ? being disoriented can simply mean she is having severe pain and the dilated pupils can mean pain as well, doesn't always have to mean something neuro. I'm praying it's something like that. |
I'm not sure about IV and xrays, but you bring up a good point about swallowing something sharp. Puppies seem to have to eat everything they find on the floor. |

If not Please do so , Thanks. |

Tammie just got home. They found a tiny amt. of coccidia and gave meds for that, blood didn't reveal anything abnormal from eating something, and next they will test for liver shunt. Maybe Tammie will have more to add in the morning, but for now it is still a mystery. Good night all. Keep praying for Faith. |

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Her blood work came out fine for the most part. No evidence that she has eaten anything posionous however her wbc is up so she does have an infection going on. Her blood sugar was normal. Stool was negative for Parvo...they did find a small trace of coccidia so all the puppies are being treated for that. However, there is still no identifiable reason for what she is doing but they are leaning towards a liver shunt. Her number showed that it could be possible but at her age she needs a different test. So we are back home now. She still has the bloody stool and all the puppies hate me right now cause I just gave them medicine. LOL So we go to our vet in the am and go from there. If anyone has any info on what and how I go about getting her to A&M that would be great. Also if they know costs that will help me out a bunch too. Even ball park figures lets me know which one of my skin kids to sell. LOL Please still keep her in your prayers. She really is a sweet little girl and just did not ask for any of this to happen. Hugs!!! |
Hugs to you, and prayers for Faith continue. |

They honestly really do NOT know what is wrong with her. They just ruled out what they know it is not. They want the liver shunt ruled out which is what they feel she might have based on what she is doing. Her eyes where dilating again last night and she is walking better so her neuro signs have improved with the meds that the 1st vet gave and they agreed with that. I did ask about an x-ray but I was asking about one of her head and they said it would just show a fracture but they felt her head and said they did not think that was necessary. Never did I think of asking for one to see if she had swallowed something and they never said anything about it either. I wish I knew everything that happened when she left my house also but I don't and will probably never know. I do know her family is deeply upset that she is sick. They even met me at the ER last night and was in tears as we all have been. I just really don't know what is/was her cause of all the problems and just pray that she will be alright. |

Tammy, I'm just now seeing this. Poor little Faith! I'm sorry I have no suggestions, but I'm sending lots of prayers for Faith. She and the rest of the miracle babies have a big part of my heart - I pray you find answers and she's all well again soon. Hugs for all of you, Bonny |
Sending good thoughts, hugs and prayers to Tammie and Faith. |
I don't believe I'm familiar with the Miracle Babies story. My prayers are with you and your little one. It really sounds like you are doing everything you can and I hope you get answers soon. The waiting and diagnosing is so difficult. Hang in there Faith! |
I'll be praying for your baby... Normally with Liver shunt the pup would get worse right after eating... you were saying she improved a bit? So IDK... Hope they find out what it is soon. |
