| Can I give him metacam Toby caught his dew claw. It's still on but bleeding a lot. I have put cornstarch on it and am putting pressure on it. I think metacam is the only painkiller I have. Is it ok to use in this situation? |

| I use metacam here if my little one is shoing she is uncomfortable. I always have it onhand. I do not think it would be a problem to use some

| Well I gave him the rimadyl but ended up taking him to the er vet (it's midnight here in the uk). They bandaged him up and gave him an antibiotic. They said they wud try to save the claw (ligament just attached on one side) but he is booked in for check up on Tuesday evening. Poor toby |

| Aw...poor baby, hope he gets to feeling better. Zhoie doesn't have dew claws. When she came from the breeder, they were already removed. Would it be better to have the vet remove them so this type of incident won't happen anymore? I have not idea, just curious.

For future reference, yes, it's safe to give the Metacam in a pinch like that, as long as it was prescribed to that dog or another dog of the same weight. Hope he feels better, I bet that hurt
