What about when you woke up, had she eaten before her spell ? How much does she weigh ?

I was wondering how things are going. I was thinking also have them check her ears. I have read about Yorkie with ear infections having balance issues. I hope all is well. Best Wishes.

when we woke up she was acting fine, like nothing ever happened. shes been ok for a little over 24 hours now, but im still going to call the vet and at least see if they want me to bring her in. but she has been eating fine, playing...i think it might have been hypoglycemia, because i did rub a drop of karo syrup on her tongue before we went to sleep. ill also ask the vet about that nutrical stuff when i call.

and she is little, i think about 4lbs.

Good to hear she's feeling better. In an earlier post you said you are away from home 8 hrs a day so I'm guessing that you free feed ? Do you keep track/measure out her food each day ? so that you know how much she eats each day. Most of the time dogs do not eat or drink much while we are away. Have you ever noticed that when you get home she will say her hellos & then go eat & drink ? You may need to try coming home for lunch to feed her. It is 1 thing for a 10 lb dog to 8 hrs without eating but quite another for a 4 lb dog. I'm betting it was hypoglycemia but if it happens again you deff should take her for a check up & some blood work. Again, so glad she's doing better now.

she does free feed, but i make sure she has around 3/4 - 1 cup of her food a day. I fill her bowl twice a day, once in the morning as soon as i get out of bed,then i usually lay in bed for an hour or so and she eats then and then when i get home ill be in the room for a while and i will fill the bowl about an hour before we go to sleep. soooo roughly 9am and 9pm is when i fill her bowl. I usually work an 8 hour shift at this little coffee shop on base so i cant exactly come home for lunch, but my usual shift is from 1-9pm so my husband is usually home by 6 so its not like she is alone for very long really. even that day that all of this happened, my husband was home all day long, she wasnt alone at any time.

It's really not the length of time she's alone that you have to worry about but how often she's eating. Even healthy animals & people can only go so long without food & they can have a hypoglycemic attack. She needs to eat at least 3 times a day if she's tiny so that her system can stay powered & not run out of juice. Just like people dogs can forget to eat so someone needs to be paying close attention to her food intake throughout the day , not just that she's eating but eating at appropriate times.
