I had you and Teddy in my thoughts and prayers Cathy. I just had a hard time returning to this thread, because Teddy's seizure reminded me so much of the ones Becca used to have. I'd forgotten that terrified, helpless feeling that we feel when the seizure starts. Hugs for both you and Teddy, Bonny |
Just saw your post and I sure am glad Teddy is doing well. I had a German Shepherd who got seizures very infrequently but when it would happen it would take all my strength not to fall apart while it was going on. I wanted to be calm for her. I pray Teddy will not have them again. |

Praying for you both that the meds will keep working and he will have the least number of seizures that the meds can provide. That was so scary to watch the video. I was crying at the end. Hugs to you. |
Hi, So sorry you and Teddy had to go through this. It was hard to watch Teddy. I wish him luck, and I am glad he is feeling better. Beege:aimeeyork |
Encouragement Sorry to hear Teddy has seizures Tico who will be 15 years old in June has had seizures since he was 1 year old. He had been on phenobarbital his entire life. It has not completely stopped them but the intensity and frequencies has lessened. We have tried other medications over the years but found for him this worked the best. I hold him and comfort him during the seizures. It is just a part of him, Tico has epilepsy. We can't know for sure what they feel during the seizure. Tico has enjoyed his life. He loves playing walks and otherwise being a feisty Yorkie. I just wanted to encourage you that even if your Teddy has more seizures he can still live a long and happy life. :) |

Cathy, just now seeing this thread. I'm glad Teddy seems to be doing better. I hope the medication continues to keep him seizure free. |

This is definitely so encouraging! I know that Ladymom's dog Lady has lived a long and good life with epilepsy also. I hope my Teddy does as well. His life is a good one, for no matter how long he is here, and that is all I really want for him. I just am not sure that I will ever be comfortable with watching him have a seizure. It just is very scary and upsetting. |
I was searching seizures and found your thread. How can you tell the difference in a seizure and choking. Several weeks ago my Sassy ( 8 months old and 6 lbs) was eating with my other 3 Yorkies and she ran around to me, fell on the floor and started kicking her feet, at first I thought it was a seizure but i picked her up and started the heimlich maneuver , she laid her head on my chest as if she was exhausted and then she was fine and running around like nothing happened. Thanks for any advice you can give me. |
