Update on Cassie We went to the surgeon last night and he said Cassies problems are definately from allergies being neglected. It makes me so angry that this could have been avoided. We had one surgeon say that he would suggest Cassie have one ear at a time done as it is a long and very painful surgery, he would charge 1400.00 per ear. The other surgeon uses laser for surgery and he said he would be very comfortable doing both ears at the same time, he would book a day just for Cassie's surgery. When I got home another foster mom from SAY called me and they are going thru the same thing with their little boy, and their surgeon is renowned, people come from all over to see her. She is in Pennsylvania, she charges 2100.00 for the surgery and does it by laser as well. So the decision has been made that Cassie will go to PA to have the surgery, Liz and I will arrange a way to get Cassie to her, then after her surgery when she is well enough to travel we will get her back here. Liz just cannot take Cassie on for her whole recovery, as her little guy just went thru the same thing. This surgeon is a specialist and has done this procedure on small dogs numerous times. So I feel comfortable with this plan. She will need 3-4 weeks recovery time and will retain the hearing she currently has. The only downside is she may have to wait 3 weeks or so to get in as this surgeon is so busy, but the vet last night said that is fine, she will not get worse in that time.

She will be able to keep her ear drums, they only have to remove the canals.

Thank you to everyone here for your support and help. Cassie is going to be the sweet girl she is meant to be with no more pain and itching. She will definately be a special needs girl, with the allergies and reduced hearing, but I am so glad her suffering is nearing an end. Again THANK YOU, I cannot say it enough.
