| Back Pain My Yorkie (Bouncer) has been having back discomfort for about 3 months now. I recently had his teeth cleaned and after that he has seemed to gotten worse with crying in pain and discomfort. I have been through two rounds now on my third of tramadol and first 2 with prednisone. He will get better for a while and then back to the same discomfort. He sleeps with me most of the time and cannot get comfortable. He will put weight on his front legs and his little but up in the air - off and on. He trys to play some, but the problem still persist. Please if anyone has had your baby experience the same or similar problems, please let me know. My vet has suggested accupunture, but have not done that yet. We have had x-rays, but nothing showed up that the vet seemed to think could cause these issues. Thanks in advance for any input to my Bouncer's problem. |

| I highly recommend you see neurologist. What state are you in? Several members here have used neurological specialists and may be able to help refer you to one.

| This would be a problem for an orthopedist and/or neurologist to diagnose and treat. Please don't waste time with holistic treatments right now. They can't fix the problem (if it does need to be fixed). He needs to go to a specialty hospital for evaluation. When in doubt about where to go, the nearest vet school is always a good choice.

Thanks Crystal. I tried to come back and say Orthopedist but my editing time was up.

| NC State does have a vet school. Shouldn't be anymore expensive than a specialty hospital (although that's fine too if you have a good one nearby).

| Thanks everyone for your input. I have a follow up appointment with my vet next Tuesday and will defintely bring up all of these options. We do have a vet school at NC State although I have never had to use them. I have gone to the specialty hospitals a couple of times, but not for this problem. They are SO expensive, but I may have to go that route if my Bouncer does not improve soon. I am so glad I found this site!
