Swollen Stomach in my Tucker Hi Folks, My 3 year old Yorkie (Tucker) has a swollen stomach. We took him to the vet last night and have to wait until next week to get the results. He is eating and releasing his waste's regularily. He has had swollen eyes lately and they are running with pus. Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be. He also has lipids on his cornea. The vet thinks it might be liver disease. Any comments would be appreciated. |
I'm sorry about Tucker and what you are going through. What tests did the vet run? |
Sorry to hear about your little Tucker. Hope you get some answers soon. Wish I could be more help... |
I'm so sorry that Tucker isn't well. It's nerve wracking waiting for results. Keeping you and Tucker in my prayers. |
They did a whole bunch of blood work looking for Cushion's disease, hypoprotienemia, liver disease etc. |
Thank you for your prayers. |
There are many people on this forum that have experienced those problems with their Yorkies. I have no advice, but you have come to the right place and I'm sure you will get lots of help here, especially after you get a diagnosis. Stay positive, these health problems, while serious, can be treated and/or managed. The important thing is that you are taking the necessary steps to get little Tucker the help that he needs, and you are to be commended for that. |
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and Tucker. I agree with OwnedbyJezebel...continue to stay and think positive! Erica |
Sending prayers for a diagnosis and treatment for Tucker and support to his owner. I am sorry you both have to go through this difficult time. Best wishes. |
im sooo sorry as well. im not a vet but hopefully bloodwork will give you an answer. as with humans thats the definitive, swollen belly like with adults think could be ascites which is a sign of liver disease. ??????????? my thoughts & prayers are with you. whatever the outcome im sure ur baby will be loved, i think when anyone is sick it can be harder on the caregiver than the patient. goodluck to both of you |
Thanks to all of you for your prayers. We will have to wait until Monday for the results. I will keep you posted. |
:welcome4: :yorkietal :welcome4: Welcome to both you and Tucker. I am so very sorry that Tucker is having these health issues. I will keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers. Please be sure to update us as soon as you get the test results, because we genuinely care. |
Bad News about Tucker Hi Folks, we got Tucker's blood work back and his protein was way off and his urea was up along with low ALT. The vet recommended an ultrasound which is what we had done today. Unfortunately, he told us that Tucker has severe Kidney Disease and we can not help him. It breaks my heart. He is only 3 years old. The vet thinks he was born with it. We will have to put him down very soon. I want to thank all of you again for your wonderful support. Thanking you for the prayers as well and please pray that Tucker has a peaceful passing. Blessings. Steve |
Oh, that is so sad and I am heartbroken for little Tucker and you - but can you get a second opinion just to be certain? I've read so many things on here about kidney disease treatment, maybe there is something out there that a small dog vet would know of. |
Steve, I'm so sorry to hear this. My dog Sammy was diagnosed last month with renal failure. Did your vet suggest feeding Tucker k/d dog food? Maybe that will help. Ask if there is something you can do with diet to help. Again, I'm so very sorry. Praying for you and Tucker. I wish I could do something to help you. |
