Prayers and best wishes for a more favorable diagnosis. Never give up hope. Proper vet care + God = healing |
My prayers for you and Tucker, so happy to hear you are getting second opinions. Please take a moment to notify your breeder, as when final diagnosis comes in, it may probably be from one of the genetic diseases. Good breeders always want to know about any health problems in the puppies they place. Best wishes for your next visit. |
I hope today finds your little Tucker better. I will keep him in my prayers. My friend almost lost her little one a few months back ... very long story short, the critical care hospital doctors found that her gallbladder had ruptured and previous doctors couldn't seem to diagnose it. A lot of her symptoms were similar to your Tucker. She was already septic when they did the emergency surgery and after many days and almost losing her several times, she is now fully recovered. One of her doctors said that had they not gotten her when they did, she would have died within an hour. We are so thankful for the wonderful doctors and this facility. Hope to hear a good update for Tucker.:thumbup: |
We took Tuck to a specialist today and he does not think it is Kidney Disease. He thinks it's PLE which is treatable. He did an abdominal tap and we will get the results tomorrow. I will keep you all posted. We have new hope thanks to all of your prayers!! |
I am keeping Tucker in my prayers. When I lost Dixie at 7 months to kidney failure her Bun and Creatine were literally off the charts. Her ultrasound showed severely underdeveloped kidneys. I am so glad you are getting other opinions and hope you can find out exactly what is causing his symptoms. |
Any more news on Tucker?? |
Hi Gang, Sorry it took me awhile to get back to you. The vet was suppose to call me on Wed and didn't call with Tuck's urine results until late Thursday. He was speaking to a specialist about tuck and they confirmed that Tuck has Protein Losing nephropathy. I suspected that all along so i put Tuck on a high protein, no fat diet last week. He is doing really well. His stomach is gone down thanks to florosimide, I gave him that 10mg once every three days. I purchased yucca root, a natural water pill, and baby vitamins and started him on all of that. He ate fish and chicken mixed with rice, his meds and fish oil yesterday 5 times. I was tooo excited. He even played tug of war with his brother riley (cairn terrier) and he hasn't been shaking for the past couple of days. He only weighs 5.2lbs so we rigged up a scale so we could weigh him regularily. I am very pleased with his progress thus far. My wife and son are estactic! We are taking this one day at a time. The vet said the Wheaton Terriers are known for this disease so how Tuck got it is a mystery. Thanks so much for all your prayers. Your support is so appreciated. We are taking tuck in for blood work next week. Will keep you posted. The vet said we may be able to manage this if we caught it early! Thank god for second, third and fourth opinions eh!! |
That's much better news than what you were told originally. Kudos to you for pressing on until you got the right answer. |

Hi Folks, Just a quick update. Tuck is eating really good again. He is defacating and urinating normal. His stomach is not swollen any more and he is playing and running just like his old self. I have him on a high protein, no fat diet with vitamins. Thanks so much for your prayers! We are taking him in for a check up in a couple of weeks so will update you then! Thanks again gang, your support has been awesome! |
I am so very happy that Tucker is doing so well!!!!!! What wonderful news!! |
Hi Gang, Just want to report that Tuck has started to gain weight and is back to playing and running etc. He is doing awesome on his new diet. Just like a puppy again! The power of prayer!! Thanks so much! |
So glad to hear Tuck is doing so well... :D |
Tucker is still doing great! Hi Folks, It's been awhile since I have been here but again wanted to let you know that Tucker just celebrated his 4th birthday and is doing wonderful. I still have him on a high protein diet and am supplementing with Blue Ribbon dog food that is grain free. He seems to like that but still loves his chicken breast!! He gets no grain, corn or anything that is related to that food group. |
Wow! I am so glad to hear that Tucker is doing so well. Kudos to you for taking such good care of him! |
