Hills does a LOT of research and I am quite certain that if the amount or type of pork in that food would be a risk of pancreatitis it would not be in there. I have used ID MANY times with MANY yorkies without any problems at all. I have also used Purina EN.

ladyjane I'm not hear to argue..I'm just stating on what worked for Izzy who has pancreatitis/sibo/IBD and with working with vet specialists across the country. There is pork in those two SD formulas and it did not work for Izzy and a few other Yorkies I know. That's why it's sometimes a crap shoot in the beginning of diagnosis and trial and error with foods to find the right combo that works for your dog. When I was researching on YT I saw many diets on here that worked for some and not others. Almost lost Izzy 3x during that 8 months and based on what she is eating now after trying the Science Diet ID/WD which put her both in emergency after eating...now she has been doing great for 2 years so I must be doing something right.

I am happy that your pup is fine. That was not what I was addressing. That food, while you say it put your pup in the hospital because of it, works fine for many, many pups. I just wanted that to be clear. We all have different opinions. I don't consider myself an expert on reading labels and rely on vet nutritionists when I am in doubt. I have seen two who highly recommend Hill's Prescription Diets for pups. Certainly there is a once in a great while pup that may not respond to a certain diet. I also have had experience with pancreatitis in yorkies. I was merely stating MY opinion....if you wish to consider that an argument, I honestly don't know what to say.

| Dogs with pancreatitis can eat pork if it's a lean cut. Barney is on 3% fat for the rest of his life and pork loin is an acceptable food for him per his board certified veterinary nutritionist. Pork loin is very lean, and he loves it.

| As weird as it sounds, pork is allowable with pancreatitis. I wouldn't tell anybody it's okay to feed bacon, ham, etc. to any dog. Pork loin can be just fine. With my pancreatitis girl, I have been too nervous to try it though because anything new can be a really bad adventure for us, but the loin isn't high in fat.
