Update: The neurologist got the test results back from the spinal tap and it is negative she said in 20% of cases with gme that it won't show in the fluid the only way to know for sure is an MRI but I don't have that kind of money.
I called for an update and she said she took him outside to try to go to the bathroom and he tried to Stand! but he still fell over to the right and needed her to support him but he has not stood since Thursday so little things like this to me are great. Please continue to pray that he has no damage in his brain and that he continues to respond to the drugs vet said we will know by Friday how he is doing with the medicine I get to bring him home tomorrow and will update how it goes at home.

I hope your little Polo improves. You're right! Little things do mean a lot. Baby steps, as they say. Sending Polo special prayers.:)

Also , Chiari can have these same symptoms and can only be detected by MRI. I don't want to offend you by saying this so PLEASE don't take this wrong as I know that you Love your baby. If you can't afford the MRI then you might want to look into a reputable Yorkie rescue so that your baby could have the tests done & get a proper diagnosis so they could give the treatment needed. Something to think about.

Would it be possible for you to apply for Care Credit at the vet's so that you can move forward with more tests?

Excellent suggestion. OP, if I were you, I would be looking for a way to get that MRI done. Otherwise the vet is working in a bit of a void...and guessing. Just not a great way to deal with something so serious.

I will pray for Polo and that you find a way to get him the testing and/or care he needs.

By all means apply for Care Credit. It's really great. I used it when my two cats were operated on and they give you payment plans to work with. I would have sold my soul for them.

Adding prayers for Polo and also want to echo the encouragment for you to take advantage of the Care Credit for Polo so he can get the MRI. In this case it would be a Godsend to the vet to aid in a firm dx instead of treating for suspected problem.

How much is she saying for the MRI? Around $1200-$1500? I think that is normal. But some areas have better prices. That would not be so bad with payments. Maybe family & friends could help a little too? If you do wind up having to go through a Rescue, pls let us know which one so that we can make donations in his name.

Yep...and places that do them can also vary in their prices. Might be a good idea to call around and price check on the MRI.
If you are near a vet school, call them!
