This is so beautifully put and so very true. I showed John the photo of Basil and I thought his heart would melt. Your little one will be whole again and lead a charmed life because of you and Marge. I am so sorry that this happened to you, your in laws, and your baby. You bring so much to the lives you touch, and they are better for having you in their lives. Try not to stay away too long. You will be missed. | So well said... Quote:

As much as the world sometimes tries to beat it out of us, the genuine humanity of good people is something that doesn't die easily. I see it in how you rushed to comfort your inlaws, I see it in how you took care of Basil and didn't go postal on the brother-in-law, and I see it in how you let us share in your anger and grief and updated us with a picture of the sweet pup whose back you had in a crisis.
YT needs you, Steve. Take all the time you need but know there's always a place for your caring nature, your wit and your wisdom. (I'll take care of all the women while you're gone) :p | We wish you could, but we need Steve! Quote:

Sad to hear the horrible things that happened to your in laws. There are such horrible crimes going on now. I live near Atlanta and we have had several home invasions on elderly people. I hope they catch the ones who did this and they are punished to the full extent of the law. It is terrible that on top of this tragedy little Basil had to get hurt. He looks like he is doing ok. I know this is heartbreaking for you but I really enjoy reading your post and hopefully when you think it over you will reconsider about leaving YT. From what I have seen there are a lot of people here that love you and Marge and your babies. I am always telling people about the guy on YT that has a Great Dane and 2 little Yorkies. My prayers are with Marge and her parents and also with you and Basil and the entire family. | I so agree... but in honor of our Senior YT Mascot Carlo, the Protector and Lover of Little Ones... he is not a Great Dane, but the Ultimate Cane Corso!
And Steve, know that many of us understand what you are going through right now, and that you need to do whatever you feel will help you and your family get through this horrible ordeal. Know in your heart that you truly will be missed, and that we will be praying and/or sending positive thoughts for you and your family to heal and recover from this tragedy. I am praying and sending Hugs and Love to you and yours, your pups, and even your brother in law, and especially for your Dear Marge and her parents.
And a suggestion: Have folks sit down on a couch or sofa before handing the pupster over. Hopefully not, but there are many times when our little ones must be handled and/or cared for by others, and it would be better to aclimate them to this, should the need arise.
My own little girl flew out of my arms the 4th day we had her. My DH sneezed as he followed me out of the bedroom one morning, and it scared her almost to death! I was so lucky that she wasn't hurt. I couldn't believe she got away from me, as I have owned and handled Yorkies and other small dogs for over 30 years! I have heard of pups doing this and breaking their necks, backs, and legs. |
