| diarrhea Hi I'm new to this site and hoping I can get some help, my dog is a year old and the last 2 months has been having recurring diarrhea he's had many stool samples done and nothing shows up. I know he has not eaten anything as we watch him very close, nor been around any other dogs. The vet has given him metronidazole he takes them few days it clears up then once he's off the pill again it starts all over. |

| Blood work normal? What is your pup eating and does the vet change it during these episodes? Has your vet talked about leaving pup on the Metro long term? Have you tried Tylan?

| The vet has him on Royal Caine gastrol intestinol dry, going to make an appointment tomorrow and see about getting blood work done, plus I will see if he can stay on the metro. Its weird cause his stool will go from hard to diarrhea in the same day. One of the vets said if it does not clear up he might do a scope but I really don't want to put the dog through that if I don't have to. |

| I agree with the scope idea. The vet can take biopsies that way also. But you can miss things with the scope, so some elect to just open them up. Could check B12 and folate. When these are off it can indicate small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.
