Maxine will be having a Lumpectomy next week
 
We noticed a lump on Maxines chest, about 1 inch under her neck. Noticed it over the weekend, and since Carlo had a scheduled Appointment, figured we would also take Maxine and the vet would see her also. The Vet took an Aspirate to look at the cells on a slide. The first one showed hardly any cells, so she did it again. Same result, so she said if it was her dog, she would have it removed, as it seems to be attached to the chest muscle, and is pretty hard. We have Maxine scheduled for surgery on Thursday, Feb 10 at 8 am and they will send the lump out to see what it is identifued as, and take it from there. Marge is pretty upset, but I am keeping a brave face on for her, but it is also affecting me. We hope it is nothing. Maxine is almost 14, and in great health outside of her night vision deteriorating. One good deal after another it seems. While she is under, they will also clean her teeth.

I'm sorry to hear about the lump, but hopefully it will just be on of those oh-so-unlovely things older dogs get (but don't tell Maxine I referred to her as older), and not something to worry about. It's tough having more than one senior in the house, Steve. Still, Maxine is in the best possible place with you guys and it sounds like you have a great vet. Praying everything is okay, with Maxine and Carlos.

oh geezzzz... I am so sorry that this has you worried. I know it is hard, I dread the day my guys are old enough that I have to worry. I will hope for the very best.. and it might be nothing but fatty tissue....

I hope Maxine will be alright. We found a lump on one of our dogs and immediatly took her to vet. The vet told us that it didn't look good and he suspected cancer. I cried the whole way home. She had surgery to remove it, and luckily it was benign. That was almost 8 years ago. (She passed away about 4 months ago.) We had to put her to sleep because she was losing control of her bowels and wasn't able to move her hind legs. She was a large breed dog and lived to be 13 and a half years old.

Please keep us posted on Maxine. I hope it turns out to be nothing serious. I know how scary it can be. Try not to think the worst.

Oh darn it, you guys really deserve a break after all you have gone thru with Carlo. Hope all turns out well for lil Maxine.

My 15 year old schnauzer Niko has several tumors on his chest that the vet has determined are benign fatty tumors. I hope Maxine's is the same.

oh Steve sorry to hear about this, I hope it all turns out to be just a scare praying that this is all it is. Then again could this just be Maxine being fed up with Carlo getting all the attention and going yeah let me get some attention and keep them scared for a while lol. All jokes aside Steve hope all is well keeping you guys in my prayers xo

Well, tell Ms. Maxine, that I'm suffering w/night vision too, so I, totally, understand her frustration...But seriously, Ms. Maxine will be in my prayers, you can be sure...I've already put it on my calendar....Prayers will be sent for Maxine, the doctors and all who attend her...Needless to say, I'll begin to pray for you and Marge, right now, to give you a peace about all that you have ahead of you..Hope Carlo continues to get good reports...

I am sorry to hear that she has a lump. Considering where it is, I'm hoping that it will not be anything serious. Sending prayers for Maxine, as well as her mommy & daddy, too. I know it's scarey.

I am so sorry to hear about little Maxine. I have a very old little one and he gets lumps often now and every time, I worry is this one a problem. I admire that you are having it tested and trying to do your best my Little Maxine. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Mary

sending prayers for maxine. zowi had a hard lump on the back of her neck a few years ago and had it removed during her dental also. it came back benign. hopefully the same good news will come for maxine!

This same thing happened with my best friends dog they aspirated it and could not be conclusive so they removed it and it was a fat pocket her dog is only 12

also about 2 weeks after they removed the first one we found another and now more and more all of them so far have been fat pockets
