| Weird looking poop For the past few days Lexie's poops have been really irregular. One minute super firm then loose. I've been feeding her the same things, though she sometimes eats bad stuff off the floor like lint, piece of sting, leaf from a plant. Her poops will start off super hard then as it comes out it turns looser and skinny almost diarrhea like by the end(gross i know). She scoots her bum on the carpet once in a while but not too often. Other than these weird poops she's fine and acting like her normal playful self. Oh and she's been licking herself down there more often which i never used to really see her do Last edited by candigirl; 01-30-2011 at 06:37 PM. |

| Sounds like her anal glands may need to be expressed.

| Cooper poops like that sometimes. It seems like it's random. But I agree with ladyjane though if scooting and licking is involved.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | I have an older dog who needs her anal glands expressed regularly, she scoots her butt a lot when she needs it done. I recommend a trip to the vets to be on the safe side.

| My dog had the EXACT same kind of poop--after a couple of days I decided it would be best to take a sample into the vet. I'm glad I did b/c she had giardia. If I were you, I'd take a sample just to make sure nothing is wrong. There's no payment for a vet visit, just the sample test, so it's not very expensive and worth making sure your baby is okay! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Tallulah had some weird irregularity - one time runny, next time hard. I took a sample of the runny to the vet and he found bacteria. Well worth having it checked out. |

| Thanks everyone, her poops have actually been looking much better now, I added peas to her dinner and it's helped a lot. I also stopped giving her bully sticks not sure if that caused it but I don't wanna take any chances. I'll still take her to the vet to have him check her anal glands though |

| Never did I check poop as fervently as since Zoey found us. My family thinks I'm nuts with my poop reports. Seems a popular topic around here :-) Last edited by south; 02-04-2011 at 06:03 PM. |
