Senior Yorkie Talker | Please help! Hi, i am the mother of Brooklynn and my 7 month old baby got into some ham (deli Meat low sodium) yesterday she ate at least 6 to 7 slices in one gup before i knew she was eating it. She was fine all day yesterday and today until 3 hours ago. I notice that her stool was loose and it now has a reddish brown tint to it but im not sure if it is blood. But the one thing i am sure is that it has mucous in it. She has moved her bowel 2x in the last 3 hours and it is the same. IM SO SCARED and i BLAME MYSELF . I didn't realize i left the refrigerator open after loading the groceries in. She is not lethargic its just the stool issue. I took her food up because i want her to drinks a lot of water to see if she can run it out. Her Vet is close and every other in the next two towns.

| Your Brooklyn needs to be seen by a vet now! Ham is a major cause of pancreatitis and it is highly possible that is what is going on with her. Please do not wait for it to get worse.

| All I can say is that IF she gets worse tonight, you had best go to NY then. Do yourself a huge favor and google for an emergency clinic just in case you need it. You are in a large area that I am quite sure had an emergency clinic you could take her to even if not right in Jersey City! Hopefully she will be ok. If she does have pancreatitis she will not get better on her own. Time will tell. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

| Keep a close eye on her for any increase in symptoms. She may not have pancreatitis; but you need to be on the look out for it just in case. As it says below, catching it early is very important. Good luck! Pancreatitis (Inflammation) in Dogs From that site: Acute pancreatitis can be a life-threatening condition, and early recognition and treatment can improve chances of recovery. In dogs, fever, lack of appetite, depression and vomiting are the most common signs. Treatment is based on correcting the dehydration and maintaining proper fluid and electrolyte balances, controlling other symptoms and providing nutritional support.

| This vet (the first one) is in Jersey City and takes emergency calls 24/7. Sending prayers for your baby. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp=...9eab5fb0f14aaf

Senior Yorkie Talker | Im so annoyed with these vets over here. Im like why is every vet closed tomorrow but one that is in union city(which i dont have a problem taking her). Furthermore that after hour doctor on call is a crook of $%^# because its just an answering service. Annoyed at Jersey City Limitations

| Lawrenceville Emergency Vet ? 24 Hour Animal Hospital | VCA Animal Emergency Center of Gwinnett | Home I've used this hospital numerous times with Prince. Call them and tell them that you are in NJ, but need advice over the phone. Maybe they can help.

| I've been watching this, as Reesie got into some ham on Friday, not much, about a teaspoon full. As we were scraping plates after dinner a small piece fell off and she was right there. Friday night she had vomit and loose stool. Her stool has been loose all weekend. She isn't eating much now so we managed to get some corn syrup into her mouth. She promptly threw up. She isn't spayed and we're getting close to her heat but this isn't normal behavior. She has spurts of energy but is generally listless. I'm not trying to hijack this thread but since we're waiting on the OP I hoped you might have some answers for me. |
