Ok...now THAT is a cute, funny tantrum!! Teddi likes negative attention as well and is prone to the pee pad 'snatch' as well... It's the psycho, barking, biting, running in circles in the pen growling thing that freaks me out!!

Thank you but really...not so funny when he is doing psycho pup . The first time he ever did that was when I was alone with him and he was NOT in his playpen. We were playing on the couch and he started the growling, playing thing, then revved himself up so much, started running through the family room, dining room as fast as he could growling, stopping only to bark AT me and attempt a bit of biting (hard!) So some of it we get. He does this when he has to go potty or poo and wants to go out (at least I think he's asking in a weird way to go out) - and when he is over tired. Very willful this little one. He is coming along though. His naughtiness has calmed a bit since being with us a month now. In fact, put him in his pen a little bit ago and is sleeping soundly. We have weird hours - being musicians - so he had a lot to get used to in the beginning. He was up at 7am now at least he is more on our schedule - 10 am is now the norm then a nap. *WHEW*

Biting is not good and he certainly needs to learn bite inhibition. Check out the sticky on this subject at the top of the training forum.

The rest of it, the zoomies, barking, and growling, sounds like playfulness. Some dogs can be more hyper than others. Daily walks and fetch are a great ways to drain energy. Obedience and trick training are great ways to challenge your pup mentally and encourage him to focus.

My family adopted an adult 85-pound Airedale when I was a teen. I was terrified of large dogs and for the first week that we had Tara, I often had to seek refuge on the kitchen counter because I thought she wanted to eat me. We had a trainer come to the house and explain to me that she was doing a "play bow" and her barking and growling were part of the invitation to me to play. Once I realized what she was trying to communicate to me, we became best friends and had a blast playing in the yard.

Teddi has actually been a little better about the biting thing though when very excited or upset (ie: during a tantrum) he will still bite - hard - those sharp little puppy teeth are crazy!! Have tried the 'ouch' method to no avail. Puppy class starts next Monday night. Hmmmmm....should I 'bite' him back... Hugely Kidding of Course!!!!

Puppy classes -- very good! I agree about those razor sharp puppy teeth. When Max had his remaining ones pulled, I kept them for posterity.

One more thing - we do walks about 5 -6 times a day - long and short. Also - fetch is the name of the game and he runs and runs and runs - he is the ultimate energizer bunny! Waiting for those puppy classes...we have used replacement etc. still does it during his tamtrums though...

Still have Gizmo's and one adult tooth he lost as well! Miss him so very much every day...♥ Planning on keeping Teddi's if we can find them. He is smaller than Giz was so not sure we'll find them!
